I can't afford a PS3 right at the moment, and the fucks at EA Sports won't give me a roster update for NHL 08, i guess i've got to find another make for sports video games.

EA has a long history of cornering consumers and saying, "You will buy our shit at any cost because we own the rights to all of your sports franchises. Suckers."

I've long heard the gripes of Nascar fans that play those titles complaining about things like frame rates, content and gameplay. I've never played an EA title for baseball or basketball but I'm under the impression that the only title they really cater to is Madden. I understand 2k sports is firing up again so I think you may be able to go that way.

I've owned one NHL title from EA. I think it was NHL 02. I dug it. I'm not a big hockey fan so it was more for when I had people over so we could go nuts trying to score and scream at each other.

Well when you play online it's kind of the same thing, you can have microphone games, but im just pissed that the game has been out since September and no Roster updates.

I'm a huge NASCAR fan and I used to buy the racing games every year but I haven't the last few years. It's a sham. EA used to kick ass when they had to compete but now it's just junk.

We had to ban hockey from my apartment because it would cause fist fights when we were drinking. You get 6 or 7 former athletes in one room (all still highly competitive), fill them with numerous beers, and it's a recipe for trouble. We're all still friends, though. No major damage.

My wife bought Nascar 08 for me. Looked exactly like 06. I've played it once. I appreciated the fact that she went out and got it for me but, like you say, without competition EA is satisfied with releasing carbon copies of games every year, only updated car numbers and names being the change. The features on those games are ridiculous. I dont wanna race a friggin Modified, or a NCTS car. Make the Cup series racing better. The best one they ever made was 04.

Same here. Not that everyone in the room was a former athlete but we were all very competitive and drinking. Think Vince Vaughn in Swingers. Good times.

I think the final straw was when we were playing, drunk of course, and I got pissed off at my best friend who I've know forever. I calmly got up and proceeded to fire a controller right at his head. It came to blows. Now, I've been in about 3 fight in my whole life and I'm not a prick when I drink. That made the decision easy for us (my friend was also my roommate at the time). We woke up hung over the next day and the game went into the trash. I haven't played a hockey game since and that was about 5 years ago.

DAMN!!!! I did a lot of trash talking but I never tried to crack a guy's skull with the controller. Probably a good thing that game found it's way to the garbage.

EA games have for some time been crap.
I can't even think of one EA game that I get excited for anymore.

I got the new Tiger Woods when it came out...EXACT same thing as last year!
Madden is the same EVERY year as are every other game they make.

For baseball I play MLB The Show. Awesome game!

That was the dozen beers along with getting blown out for the 3rd time in a row. Not one of my finer moments.

I laways thought the competiton online would trump what you could get at home. I never desired getting stomped by some 12 year old kid in North Dakota and hear him cackling wildly as I throw yet another interception.

Yeah, hearing the 12 year olds talk shit after they go 26-2 on Call of Duty 4 isn't much fun...
Oh well...better then getting clunked in the head with a controller! LOL

I could tell you a lot more stories of video game anger. I had a lot of bitterness towards video games, I think that was mostly the booze. I've spent more than a few bucks on new controllers (yeah, there is a pattern).

I remember playing one of the Bond games on multi player mode and I figured how to use a jet pack. I kept doing against my friends and they threatened bodily harm if I didn't tell then how to do it. I caved in.

Back in the day of the original Tecmo Bowl for NES my buddy didnt know how to switch recievers on offense and I did. I'd intercept him every time and run it back. Once he learned I was subjected to the worst video game ass whoopings known to man.

I do get pissed from time to time at video games, but not nearly as pissed as I used to get as a kid playing NES. Oh man!
    Damn thing!
