i have to think one of doughty, pietrangelo or schenn will fall a spot or 2 so that someone can trade up to snag filatov

- a trade or 2
- move up in the draft to the #5 spot (NYI) with McCabe being involved, or aquire another top 12 pick (possible VAN at 10).
- if we only keep the #7 pick we go with Hodgson or Boedker
- if we have the #5 we go with Schenn
- if we have 2 top 12 we go with Schenn, hodgson or boedker with the lower 1 and use the other to get Beach

hahahaha
the self-delusion of Leafs fans never ceases (sp?) to amaze me
the Islanders USED to be a franchise that would trade a first-round pick for someone life McCabe, but those days are done
The Laughs would have to pay 75 % of the remainder of his contract for the Isles to trade their 1st round pick for McCrap

EDIT: Blues have already traded Jamal Mayers to the Leafs for a draft pick, and picked up Chris Mason from Nashville in exchange for a fourth round pick.

It's always possible, but rarely reality.
i did say involving McCabe, not just him straight up for the pick. But hey if the NYI would do the deal straight up aslong as we cover 75% of his contract (still goes against their cap though) consider it a done deal
I did hear that he's not going to waive his nmc though so maybe a deal with the sharks INVOLVING kubina

Love this pick, Schenn/Stralman in 4-5 years will be awsome... this easily made my day

good prediction, you guys are looking great on D for the future. Pietrangelo/Johnson will own in years to come

lol, yeah, I couldn't believe it for a second when I saw TO had the 5th pick, I rushed to tsn.ca to see if the Isles were silly enough to take McCabe, but alas, still a Leaf
wow, look at the Leafs making strong, right-minded decisions for the franchise. Maybe hell is going to freeze over

although i hate it, i knew sundin wouldn't be around next year. I'm just praying that we got higgens out of montreal for his rights. If we did then i think we got a steal cause he wasn't coming back anyways.

hahaha i did the exact same thing, too much to ask for i guess lol. This only leads to Kubina being traded at some point this summer. 1 of the big 3 had to leave and apparently it won't be bryan :(
I know it's surprising eh. 1st picking up a great role player who is tough (something we desperately needed) in mayers. Then trading up to get a future #1 d-man who is defensive minded 1st and foremost (another thing we desperately needed) and following that up with with a strong power-forward with great genes in hayes. Well needless to say i'm very impressed with what Cliff has done these past couple days.

Take it for what it's worth, but Bob MacKenzie says compensation for trading rights is most likely a second round pick.
i can't see it being ryder's right because then we would have already got them. What if mats waits till june 30th to decide.
I think you're right about higgen's being a steep for rights. i'm just hoping that montreal really wants mats so they offered up a package cliff couldn't turn down to get his rights and can negotiate with him before anyone else. This kind of thing just strikes me as really odd.
I could see a 1st and 2nd next year, possibly a prospect. but i can still dream higgens is coming

Higgies got two 50 point seasons, and the best is yet to come. They'd have to be pretty desperate to offer up solid prospects for someone considering retirement. I can deal with draft picks.
Are you going to think Sundin a traitor for signing elsewhere (regardless of where)?
And the Ryder's rights is the same boat as Sundin's rights. Realistically there can't be that big a return for the 9 day trading rights of a star player....(not that Ryder is in the same league as Sundin, but you get my drift...).
PS See my edit above re: Bob Mackenzie...one draft pick.
ive got every NYR ever issued by mcfarlane
the details on his fiugures are pretty good.
That it ain't no sin to be glad you're alive
