I've got drilled by a Doc Marten during PJ at Lolla in Chicago.

Saw RATM at the tibetan freedom concert and during the first song the Circle pit opened up w/ me in the middle  Threw some bows and took a few was able to make it out OK somehow.

I broke a guys nose for licking me at a smashing pumpkins show

Got dropped crowd surfing during Soundgarden in 1995.

about 01, 02 in sydney some guy jumped of the front rail and i had the luck to be standing right under him, looking the other way or something so i didnt even see it coming - some others here have seen how i tend to bruise ... my whole left shoulder/collerbone was purple from that

otherwise, only sore feet or blisters

yeah i hear billy liked to that that. :p:D

guys out of control on music and booze or whatever freaks me out for some reason. though i have been known to inhabit a mosh i know when to step back. the crowd starts parting however and i am out of there. id rather feel the energy on the edge, digging it but not being buried. :D

just bruises in places i dont remember being hit.

I was crowd surfing at a Megadeth show back in '95. The neo-nazis had sequestered their own section of the mosh pit and I had somehow surfed my way over to them.

Of course, no self-respecting neo-nazi is going to help an impurity surf a mosh pit, so one of them starts punching me in the head.

But, I was so rushed from the mosh that I didn't really realize what was going on until the 4th or 5th punch, and by then I had surfed past whoever it was.

A friend of mine got his nipple ring torn out that night, but he is of Irish descent, so I don't think it was a neo-nazi attack.

feeling you up? fucking perv! this last time, one smartly dressed guy tried to grab my hands and drag me into the pit to which i easily slipped away from and then pushed him away into the pit and then smiled, the other fucker tried to get me by the neck! honestly all they had to do is just push me what's up with grabbing?

Some guy at the gig I mentioned earlier in the thread kept using the pit as an excuse to feel my friend's breasts. She mentioned it to me and the next time I saw him do it, I pull him into the circle pit and threw my elbow right at his jaw and he stayed away from us for the rest of the show. I think he thought it was an accident but he obviously thought I was too rowdy.

I could have broken his chin actually... :o

Exactly :D I thought "no one's going to notice and I'm not going to get arrested or thrown out for 'accidentally' smacking someone in the face in a mosh pit".

    Prick deserved it :)

I was right on the rail for The Smashing Pumpkins back in '96... people crowd-surfing behind me and some kid panicked and tried to jump from about 8 feet behind the rail. Landed on the back of my head and my face went straight into the barricade. Busted nose and bruised face... had to climb the rail (which was an adventure with everyone pushing and shit) and get to first aid so I could stop the bleeding. SUCKED.

I hated mosh pits/crowd surfers well before then and needless to say I don't have much more use for them now.

yeah it was my first and only time in a pit....i didn't realize part of the standard protocol was to get felt up

after that whole mess, i said fuck that noise, i'd rather enjoy a show dancing by my seat than have to worry about being molested or injured!
  • I don't go into mosh pits really, the music I listen to makes a different type of pit, full of angry germanic people stomping others into the ground. Anyone who knows anything will know that when a stompy song comes on, you move out of the way. The people who stomp are 'Dancing' they don't aim for people, but if you're underneath, you will get stomped to death. One goth girl kept going on about having the right to stand where she wanted and she was stomped up against a guard rail and died. She wasn't even found until the whole thing was over. Glad I wasn't there for that.

I have also heard a story from one of my friends who went to see Slipknot live, there was a guy CRAWLING along the floor with a boxcutter knife trying to slash peoples ankles! Ridiculous!

i think one should wear these when going into mosh pit

New Rocks are THE thing to kick the shit out of people in a mosh pit. Forget Doc Martins. I wear my reactors and I love them: http://www.phutwear.co.uk/shopimages/products/normal/272-newrockboot.jpg

Approximately 4-5Kg worth of pure metal, leather and fat rubber on each boot. :D

I was never into mosh pits, after reading these stories I know why. Thats doesnt sound like fun at all.

At Woodstock 99 we were standing just outside the pit. I saw some guy with a broken arm walk out of the pit. It was the grossest (is that a word) thing I have ever seen. It was bent the opposite way. I also saw some big muscle freak jumping around punching random people in the head.
