have you ever been badly injured in a mosh pit?

yeah, if anyone in here been to mosh pits in their time, i wanna know what kinda injuries you got.

myself, i've been in one once, and been near one recently where i on few occasions got into it, unfortunately injuring my thumb..which has been hurting now for 2 days.

anyone has crazy stories to tell?

    i got smashed face down into the mud- front row- three times at the same show... i refused to give up though....

    RATM show at Roseland Ballroom in mid 90's. I wear glasses and somebody is crowd surfing and kicks me in the face and makes the glasses go flying. Broken and Bloody Nose. Couldn't see a thing for the rest of the show.

    Funny part was went show was over and floor cleared, my glasses (broken) were right at my feet.

    Best show ever.

    i got kicked in the head by a girl wearing Doc Martens many many years ago... i took my revenge though.. that girl many years later married a famous Beatle and claimed she lost her leg in a car crash.. did she fuck.. i tore it off using just my chest muscles.
    oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    I got kicked solid in the back of the head at Bush show once.

    My first PJ show (New Orleans '95) was a frightening experience. I got pretty crazy. I was in extremely good physical condition at that point and I didn't think I was gonna make it. Bleachers were full of people until PJ went on and then all those idiots hit the field and tried to push their way to the front
    All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

    They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all

    my nose was nearly broken. thank god it was just bloody instead of actually broken! :eek: i got hit in the snot boxxx by some biggggg dudes elbow when he tried to jump in the pit.

    I was in a pretty ferocious pit at Reading last year during The Bronx. I had Armani glasses on but eventually gave up trying to stop them being damaged and went into the circle pit. I don't think I've ever been in a more physically intense situation ever. Most people seemed oblivious to the band playing. I didn't get injured (and my glasses remained intact :p) but eventually I had to leave the circle to drag my friend out who collapsed :o

    I was in the pit for Primus quite a few years ago at some local festival. This was when I realized I was too old for the mosh pit. I lost my sandals. First of all, wearing sandals was so retarded. I know better. Second, Primus? What the fuck was I thinking? That is not a mosh pit for the occasional mosh pitter. I lost my sandals and got my ass kicked.

    I still don't regret it. It makes for a great memory.

    You have to keep you elbows up, forearms out in front of your face, almost like boxing. This also allows you to throw quick jabs or elbows of your own if you so desire... and I usually do.

    awww thank you for the pit lesson! :) I KNOW how to rock the pit. I was trying to get out after my best friend so all guards were down! moment of weakness. :D

    Same here...fuckin' idiot crowd surfing from behind and bam. Fucker knocked my favorite cap off my head and it was never to be seen again

    ive been accidentally punched, elbowed and kicked in the face but nothing to serious, I've only actually ever been knocked down in the pit once or twice, I'm pretty good on my feet.

    Got swarmed by some skinheads in the pit at a Motorhead concert back in the day. My face and the side of my head were pretty purple and yellow. It wasn't too serious, but I looked a little rough for awhile, and I lost my fucking shoe, bastards.

    During a Beck concert (I still wonder why there was a mosh pit) I got head butted by some asswipe and could not see straight for about 10 minutes....OUCH!

    was in one by accident, first time i saw PJ at the polo fields in '95. got out unscathed with the exception of a sore hand....had to punch a guy in the face :o

    thank you. it felt pretty good actually, besides my knuckles smarting for a few minutes lol had he not kept feeling me up even after i yelled at him to stop it would have been avoided. oh well lol

    I have :o I got a split head, 4 stitches....and a loooot of blood, which I didn't even notice til I went for a pee and someone mentioned my face was covered in blood...I was 17, at a punk gig at the legendary TJ's nightclub in Newport.
    I also encountered a nasty black eye at an Anthrax show aroud the same time.

    I've seen Slayer twice, Pantera 3 times, Metallica alot, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slipknot, Faith No More @ Gample and many lesser known mosh pits and have always come out tired, but in one piece. So when do I get injured in a Mosh pit?....during a "White Trash" concert. A Band with a horn section for crying out loud. I slipped on the floor actually and tore some tendons and broke up wrist pretty good requiring pins and a plate.

    In no particular order:

    1) a hyper-extended knee
    2) chipped tooth
    3) hoops ripped out of ear cartilage
    4) concussion
    5) bloody nose
    6) numerous scalp cuts

    ahhh...those were the days, when boys didn't care that they were pummeling girls and girls had the balls to hop right in the pit.
