To me a perfect burger doesn't come from a chain. it's from some roadside place you find off the interstae in the South. Somewhere where you eat at picnic tables near the order window.

Mine is Medium rare with all the traditional fixins. Mayo, Yellow mustard, ketchup, onions, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese if desired.

    No dijon mustard, ever.

Great thread, a good burger can be better than sex.

For me, I find good sushi to be almost as good. But I suppose any food done to perfection is very arousing.

I am on the fence about the lettuce as it gets wilty from the heat of the meat.
    lol

Have you ever had the burger at Peter Luger's?
I used to live right around there, sort of, in Bkln, and never went.
It is listed as one of the best by many.

You know what upsets me, but I guess it is necessary these days...alot of places will not cook you a medium rare burger. Now I don't often order them when I am out and there are other choices, but still, it annoys me.
Bobby Flay even said at his new place that they can't do anything below medium because of local law.
    :(

I have. It is a good one. But its more of a steak burger than a good ole fashioned hamburger-if that makes sense.
    Lugers---ahhhhhhhhh

Even when I order medium-its often overcooked. I guess I would do the same if I was an owner, you just never know. Its odd that they can make a caesar salad with a raw egg, serve steak tartare, but cant cook a burger the right way.
    Hmmm research is needed.
  • do chesseburgers count? if so, i love them. put sauteed onions and peppers on it and im a happy man

Everyone is aware of how much I love our Canadian friends..but that poutine does not look right.
And that burger! Looks yummy, but way too big!!!

I love bleu cheese on burgers too!
    And swiss.
Of course you can talk about cheeseburgers droptheleash. :)
There is a place in CT called The Rustic Oak. They make incredible burgers...and the place is so old skool. It is a nice restaurant with a beautiful fireplace and a nice hearth....great food. The cocktail lounge is a real cocktail lounge...awesome ambiance, great bartenders and really comfy chairs.
Their bleu burgers are to die for.

when dunk gets back from vacation he will have to explain this.... :p:D

The Scots have given up using buns because of their low nutritional value. Instead, the cheeseburger is dipped into a batter specially designed to soak up as much fat as possible, in accordance with the principles of the Scottish Diet.

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

I think it is Food And Wine magazine that has the best hamburger competition every year. Or it is hosted by some food company. I can't remember...I always get so excited when I see the adverts for the contest...I start dreaming up new burgers.

You know what is really good?
Add some liquid smoke to the meat before cooking.

Or, some falafel mix. Then put tzaziki (sp?) on it and some tomato. Yummy.

    Those sound delicious!!!
I laugh everytime my mom tells me she bought some food from QVC. She was addicted to it when it first came out and bought every piece of jewelry. lol
    Now they sell everything!
I will have to look for those. :)

I made chicken burgers last night. I prefer them to turkey because they seem to come out more moist. Just onion, lots of salt and pepper and some chives.
    yummy

I could never be a vegetarian..I love meat too much...I used to love my burgers rare but you can't do that anymore...stupid e-coli :(
These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.

You can have them rare at Chez Trixie. We are open 7 days a week.
    :)
I can barely stand by and watch someone else cook a burger for me. It makes me nuts. And if they start squashing it down with the spatula, their family dog is getting a treat.
