What?!! Well let me tell you about Tommy's.:D Since they're open 24 hrs. there's always hoodrats hanging out there late night... my friend got robbed at gunpoint while I was inside ordering at the one at Lincoln and Pico.

I've also made the mistake of having them put chili on my burger... which they just dumped a whole ladel full of it all over my burger and fries. They didn't even attempt to put it inside the bun, but rather covered the whole thing! Luckily I was drunk so I just scarfed it down... which proceeded to get chili all over my hands. The worst part of that story is that, since I was so wasted, I forgot to wash my hands before I went to bed... so I woke up with chili all over my pillows and bed!!

I'll take a Kobe beef sashimi burger any day:cool:
Whoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.

In Japan I had a burger that was COMPLETELY raw. It was made with Kobe beef sashimi and was the most amazing burger I've ever had!!:D

Its called steak tartare. Generally sashimi refers to fish.
Been to Japan many times and I have had the dish you mention, along with a wagyu tenderloin carpaccio.

    AWESOME.

    I bet I would love that. :o

And living so close to Louis's Lunch in New Haven, CT I can absolutely say that it is a hamburger if it doesn't have ketchup on it.
Ketchup....that is no way to treat a tomato. :o

I love the Steamliner at Johnny Rockets.....veggie burger (tastes like a Boca original) mustard, pickles and grilled onion...yummy.

    They are so good.
They are not like the dumb old patties you get in any old freezer.
And when you are having a heap of people over or taking them to a cook-out..they are so convenient. And you don't have to worry about everyone having stuck their hands in the meat and all that.
    They are really good.

Nope... it was written in english on the menu Kobe Beef Sashimi burger. I've had steak tartare over here in the states and it usually is ground up with spices. This was just the meat, sliced up with some sauce on it.

Its insanely good. Talk about fancy. Wagyu is as fancy as it gets!
I dont mind a veggie burger once in awhile, but I find it to be a lot like eating falafel.

PJ clarkes makes a great burger.

But I think the best Ive had is at a place in springfield Ma called the white hut. http://www.whitehut.com/locations.html

The best is still home made, cooked on a charcoal grill.

well I think there may be a little poetic license being used with respect to the word burger, but whatever

and if you care, spend some time learning the difference between kobe and wagyu and the difference between, US, AUS, NZ and Japanese wagyu
the food geek in me finds it fascinating.
    sad I know :)

Japan has the best food in the world IMHO

Have you ever had the burger at Peter Luger's?
I used to live right around there, sort of, in Bkln, and never went.
It is listed as one of the best by many.

You know what upsets me, but I guess it is necessary these days...alot of places will not cook you a medium rare burger. Now I don't often order them when I am out and there are other choices, but still, it annoys me.
Bobby Flay even said at his new place that they can't do anything below medium because of local law.

  • To me a perfect burger doesn't come from a chain. it's from some roadside place you find off the interstae in the South. Somewhere where you eat at picnic tables near the order window.

Mine is Medium rare with all the traditional fixins. Mayo, Yellow mustard, ketchup, onions, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese if desired.

    No dijon mustard, ever.

Great thread, a good burger can be better than sex.
