I realize this may get lost amongst all of the sports stuff but...
The Next Iron Chef looks really cool!
I love Alton Brown.
It starts the first week of Oct on the food network.

I wonder if they are going to get rid of one of the Iron Chefs??
I miss Morimoto...I barely see him anymore. He is amazing.

I love what they do with the "ingredient", not saying i would eat any of it, but it is cool how they come up with some of the stuff they do.

is it just me or do you not really like the american iron chef as much. i mean sure you want to see competition and food that looks good.. but there was something awesome about watching these people cook their traditional foods with ingrediants like eel and gooeyduck... i mean things that were challenging..

i was watching american the other day and they had a challenge with garlic.. i mean really.. it just gets boring

Last night it was apples. wtf?
And Cat Cora totally blew it. :(
I agree....it is getting boring...but I still get really hungry watching it. :)
At least when Morimoto is on we see some wild stuff.

i think thats what i loved about the original.. it was really interesting to see how they cooked the food but in no way did it make me hungry. it was just really awesome to see them working. i just don't see how apples and garlic are challenging to a professional chef. shit i could make 5 dishes using garlic in an hour..
  • Alton Brown is smart, and I like his "science behind the food" approach, but I can only take him for small periods of time before he annoys the hell out of me.

I am curious as to how many of these people will actually have some culinary experience....not like those goofs on Top Chef....lol
I think it is cute how Alton and the chairman get along. Cute couple. lol

No one ever challenges him because they don't want to get beat.

See Champ...I gave you ample warning.
    :)

If anyone missed it you can tivo it Sunday. They are showing all of the episodes. I thought they did a great job. And as expected, my man Alton Brown lended a generous amount of campiness to the show. As did the chairman. lol
There is an awesome episode where they display the future of cooking. They had Wiley Dufresne, one of the top molecular gastronomists..he is out of this world.

I posted this a while back when you all were throwing down about the Patriots cheating and the ensuing bannings. It wasn't a dig against sports lou. I was trying to find something else so everyone didn't reach through their fiberoptic cables and do things to each other.

I remember seeing John Besh when he was on Iron Chef and then at some other competition about BBQing....(foodie dork here) and I was so turned off by his pompous attitude that I didn't think he was backing up with his food.
I hope the other guy wins...the badass biker chef. I think he would be the best, though Besh has that attitude all of the other chefs do on Iron Chef.

And see, it did get lost amidst all of that because Champ asked me why I hadn't told him about it earlier. So I just wanted to show him that I had tried.
It really is an awesome show if you like cooking. It is very interesting as they are using all kinds of cutting edge equipment in some episodes and bare bones in others. And I like the comraderie between the chefs. They are intelligent and wonderful chefs.
And Alton Brown is very funny.
I would have loved to hear what Champ had to say if he saw John Besh dripping sweat into his food in the first episode! lol
Their very first challenge was see who could do all of these things in the shortest amount of time...like de-bone a chicken, a whole salmon, get 1 cup of coconut water..etc. It was cool. :)

He is very pompous, but he's been the most consistent on the show so far. He hasn't had near the ups and downs the others have had.

He beat Batali by a pretty big score when he was on Iron Chef.

He did?? I wasn't sure..I couldn't remember. Was that the day Mario made what Jeffrey Steingartner called inedible??? Something like a squid milkshake?? lol
I think Chef Symon has more balls in the kitchen and is a little more creative than Chef Besh.
It is nice to see that someone else watches it. I don't watch much tv, just the dorky things like this. Not that you are a dork..:o
