I'm firing through this one, never read a book so quickly, it's gripping, good choice Trix. Sixty pages to go.

I'm over half way through now and I couldn't agree more!! It's one of the best books i've read for ages!

I had two characters in mind as the guilty party and then, the other morning I woke up to focus on one sentance of the last page... yes, it was the killers name. I'd fallen asleep with the book on my chest and it'd fallen on the floor. I was gutted.... but right ;)

Even though I know who did it (or do I?!) I'm still absolutely gripped by this book... i've recommended it to everyone :o
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

    I'm done :)
Like Sian, I peeped (own up girl, that's what it's called....peeping) I didn't mean to and could've kicked myself, beware of sneaking to the back of the book for a peep is what I say. I was 200 pages in by then, and I have to say it didn't spoil it too much.
    Excellent book, really enjoyed it.
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

Ten days is a record for me :) and in that time I spent one night at a gig, one at footie, and at least two other nights drunk :D So, that's pretty good reading for me.

LOL mine was a genuine accident I have to say but you're right, it hasn't spoilt the book to much. I've just read another 5 chapters and it's getting better and better! :D

It is very imaginatively written, very good I thought.

yeah, I haven't read such a good book in ages and i'm gonna be gutted when it's over! :o
I love the way you get completely sucked in and indentify with the characters. I can really see Joseph growing up, how his attitude towards Augusta Falls changes and how he develops through the experiences he goes through... and for some reason I really like Reilly...

jeez, how sad am i?!

I just finished another by him, 'Candlemoth'.
It's very broadly in the same vein, the same beautiful language and very well written. Although I think 'A Quiet Belief...' is the better book, I'd still recomend it to everyone who enjoyed this one.
I'm going to be down my local library at the weekend hunting out more titles :)

I get sad when I am coming to the close of a good book...though I am a bit off from that now.
I tend to start to read really slow...or limit it to a chapter a night.
I get so attached to the characters.

I agree....just want to curl up in bed with it.
I am at a loss for what the hell is going to happen....I love the whole first person narrative in the present tense.

I just finished the book this morning...I think I started crying around pg 325 and cried until the end.
I truly could not believe what was happening.
The writing grabs you and pulls you in so closely and then rips your heart out and touches your soul.
I was so moved by this book.
Thank you Dunk for bringing it to everyone's attention.
I am so grateful to you.

I've dragged it out. I only have 50 odd pages left, they're gonna be gone by tonight. I'm gutted it's ending tbh :(:o

it's taking me forever to finish because i just haven't had much time for reading, but i'm glad - i don't want it to end! i haven't been this attached to a book in a while. i'm at the point where he just got to brooklyn. it is really great storytelling.
