Ed mentioned Poughkeepsie 2 times, once in Albany and one at the Borgata. Maybe he will do a solo show at one of the theaters around. The Bardavon is too small at 900 seats, but the one in Kingston is 1,500. Then there is always the Chance.
I went to school in Poughkeepsie - Marist College. I loved it!! There definitely are some beautiful places in the Hudson Valley - especially Hyde Park (which also still has a drive in movie theater!!)
The music scene is pretty good too - with some good bands at The Chance theater. Also an occasional good show at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center.

I am about 40-60 minutes or so south from there. It's a bit up there but I have some friends who live around the area and like it. me personally, I prefer to be closer to NYC. I am only about 25 minutes from Manhattan but still in Westchester County ie THE BURBS but burbs close to NYC. it depends what you like - i am not a big fan of upper wstchester and putnam county. too far for my tastes.

freshman year all you needed to do was show a college id and they'd let you in. We got buddy of mine's brother in when he was 16.
