oh and of course, dried/dry foods! I've got tons and tons of macaroni (apparently it's a fashionable gift to someone who's moving to their own flat) and I probably won't be able to consume it all before the 'use by' date but I'm sure they'll be ok."Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! We shall go and commandeer some small craft, then drift at leisure until we happen upon another ideal place for our waterside supper with riparian entertainments."0 -

LOL. I have a very acute sense of smell. When she does this, I'll take a sniff. If I dry-heave she won't eat it."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." EV, 04/13/080 -

mickeyrat wrote:Now the REAL question is how long after a BEST by date will food still be at least edible
that is the date, best by 11/9/08, for example... do not eat after that.
my problem, is stuff we froze, even though we dated it. I had wrapped up chicken breasts really well and I took them out of the freezer the other day.
They were frozen in December 2007. My mom said that since they were in my regular freezer that we're opening constantly (as opposed to one of the big ones no one goes in), she said to throw it away, it may be freezer burn. They looked really good but I still threw them away.
I think I have an old pamphlet that I bought at the grocery store a million years ago (the eighties, lol) that explains this stuff. I think diff. cuts of meat are good in the freezer for diff. time periods.9/98, 9/00 - DC, 4/03 - Pitt., 7/03 - Bristow, 10/04 - Reading, 10/05 - Philly, 5/06 - DC, 6/06 - Pitt., 6/08 - Va Beach, 6/08 - DC, 5/10 - Bristow, 10/13 B'more
