I LOVE mine, but I know it would just be weird to ever wear them again.

sell it. or put it in your ex's food so he chokes on it.

i was thinking about selling them :(

I'd rather choke him on something a little less expensive!

I'll probably get crap for saying it, but why not give the engagement back to him?
  • What about having the rings made into other rings by a custom jeweler? I used to work with a girl who did that and the new ring was awesome.

after 6 year of marriage and having the engagement ring for 8 years he doesn't want it back.

Could you maybe stack the pave band with another ring and wear it on the right hand? And then maybe you could turn your stone from your engagement ring into a necklace or something? Or, maybe you could just reset it into a ring that looks less "engagement-ringy" and stack that with your wedding band on the right hand.

    You volunteering? :p

that's a good thought...but I still don't know if I can bring myself to wear it again. Maybe in time, but not now:( It's a shame cause it's a beautiful ring.

    Agreed ;)

    :D

You may want to look into selling them and moving on. Sometimes keeping things starts to keep you(someone told me that once...can't remember who, so I can't remember if they are wise :p)

Plus it sounds like he may not have left you in the best financial situ so the rings could help out.

I have no imput re: a divorce, but lots due to inheritance. If you like the stone, reset it, if not sell it or pass it on. If you don't like it you won't wear it so what's the point? I suppose you could save it and pass it down? But again what's the point? :)

I think selling them and using the money to buy yourself something really special is a great idea. I was going to save mine for my daughter, but maybe she wouldn't want a ring with such a negative history

I'm not sure what to do with mine now.... :o

  • This is going to be a strange story. So there are a few religous items one brings to synogogue with them when they pray in judaism. When I got divorced from a very short and painful marriage, I must have taken my ring off and put it in a bag that I carry my items to pray with (I can't remember the circumstances but I was probably cursing G-d at my misfortune and misery).

Fast forward nine years later and I am praying with my wife one Saturday. When I was pulling out the stuff I needed from my bag, the ring must have popped out. It wound up on the floor. My wife picked it up and thought that the person before us must have dropped it. I did not correct her (She does not like to think of me as being previously married and who am I to burst her bubble). She takes it to the office and leaves it.

I call the next week to tell them the truth and donate it for the sake of the synogogue.

So I guess what I am saying is you could donate it..

But the male strippers sounds great ;) or you could pay your electric bill

  • I don't wear my former wedding/engagement rings - just keep them in a box with some other special jewelry. I have an anniversary ring which I just adore and I still wear it on my right hand. He still uses the stereo system I bought him for that anniversary, so why shouldn't I wear the ring? :p

My thoughts exactly! That is what I did with mine from my first marriage. We got married with just plain gold bands, I had waited 10 years to get the set that I wanted, and it was gorgeous. The marriage ended (or should I say when it officially ended) on the day before our 11th wedding anniversary, so I didn't have the set that long. However, it still meant a great deal to me. The best thing I did to move forward was to sell it and buy myself something I wanted that I picked out just for me. It was a cleansing experience that helped me put a lot of crap behind me.

mine is in my medicine cabinet with a pile of other gold I don't like wearing...never was a fan of jewellery, esp gold, so I'm glad I don't have to wear it anymore.
I've never put much thought into it...but I will probably have it melted and made into something for my kids when they're older.
Would there be karmic implications if I had all that gold made into something for some future gf? Me thinks I'd have to keep my mouth shut about it :D

i am not divorced, but my oldest sister is twice-divorced. both times, she sold her rings. definitely not something she wanted to hold onto for 'nostalgia's sake.' and yes, she loved hers too...but when they no longer held the true meaning of why she received them or worse them, she knew she no longer wanted them.

    good luck. :)
    Stay with me...

My first husband was a real fucking asshole. We met near that dam, so it just seemed perfect.
