Had I not found this love with you
I know...I tried to ignore it for the first few postings.
One year my father in law even gave me something.
He bought a beautiful Japanese elm tree for us to plant in the front.
Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away

I think that's the key to any gift, really. sometimes at christmas and birthdays and stuff, I think my family and friends have never met me by the stuff they give me! You have to really think about the person's interests and tastes if a gift is going to mean anything.
I used to have the same experience when I was growing up...Xmas and Birthdays were always such a disappointment, and not because of the expense of the gift, but the feeling of them not knowing ME. I love when someone gives me something little that speaks volumes...it is great to feel like the person really knows who you are and values you. Isn't that what gifts should be about? I try my best to always give something that the person would love, and if I can't think of just the right thing...I give a gift card. For Xmas this year I gave my mom NetFlix....SHE LOVES IT! One year I gave my parents a gift certificate to swim with the manatees...it was my moms all time favorite gift. Now if only I could do better with hubbies gifts, oh thats right he only wants one thing...
