I thought Petty’s brief set was good. American Girl was a little slow, but. I’ve seen Petty probably 10 times since the 80’s and I have never been disappointed. Always a great show.
Loved Mike Campbell.... the rest of it was eh.. Not because I don't like Tom Petty. I do... But you might as well turn on the "classic rock" radio station near you to hear the same set. They are great songs historically, but I didn't need to hear them again.
Well done and all it just didn't have anything to keep my attention at all other than Campbell soloing on that gorgeous Dusenberg.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
Watching paint dry and listening to a faucet drip would be better than anything Prince ever did.
I know you're being dramatic and over the top, here.
But, you couldn't ever watch this and make the above comment afterward. The solo at the end is magnificent.
Still enjoy your drying paint and dripping faucet?

I wholeheartedly agree with everyone who says that Prince played an awesome halftime show last year. I wasn't even looking forward much to his performance, but he just completely tore it up.
I mean, c'mon... Purple Rain... played in the rain!
I didn't even watch the first half of the game. I just kept checking the time so I wouldn't miss Petty at halftime. He put on a decent performance there, just too bad he didn't play anything from Wildflowers.
I've seen Petty live a few times over the years, including his set at Bonnaroo in 2006. I enjoyed all of those shows (especially Roo).
on my LCDHD SET and the dolby 5.1 sound system at my house it was fantastic great sound and pict i enjoyed every single minute of it ,i was very impressed with PETTY ....
what are you talking about? that was incredible. it was the best halftime show i've seen in a long time....much better than JT or Ashlee Simpson....even paul mccartney sucked. Tom Petty is a badass and he's still just as impressive as he's ever been. but maybe its just cause i love those songs. i wasnt bored at all.
I have to agree, Petty is terrific and he showed it.
He voice was a little weak at the begininng, but but I thought it was one of the better half time shows-real musicians playing real music.
He was good. Like a lot of people have said, the song selection was a little mild but it's not like the performances suffered from the selections. Would have liked to hear "You Don't Know How it Feels" instead of "Free Fallin'"

it is disturbing to hear that song on some really weak stations...

Oh that's BS, he was singing. Where I was last nite watching the game we all enjoyed the 4 song set. It looked live to us. Great game too.
Prince was surprisingly good. I couldn't stand him growing up, but I'll give him props for last year's performance.
