I mean, I like Tom and I like those songs but did anybody think it was kind of boring?
They should have had Pearl Jam :)

I have to admit I wasn't looking forward to hearing but I thought he played almost as well as the Giants defense.

Pearl Jam as nice as they're the powers that be seem to feel they wouldn't be politically correct. Powers that be want more of the All American feel, they haven't forgotten the wardrobe malfunction episode.

  • what are you talking about? that was incredible. it was the best halftime show i've seen in a long time....much better than JT or Ashlee Simpson....even paul mccartney sucked. Tom Petty is a badass and he's still just as impressive as he's ever been. but maybe its just cause i love those songs. i wasnt bored at all.

I agree, and I agree again he sounded surprisingly well and in top form.

Agreed. I'm seriously considering picking up some tickets for his show at MSG. Saw him back in '95 but something seemed to be missing. I'm up for giving him another try.

I'm thinking I wouldn't mind seeing him in Concert. I love all the songs he sang tonight..I know he is playing in Dallas on this tour, I just don't know when..

Yeah I saw him with PJ on the Avocado tour. I really thought it was a pretty good show. Mike Campbell the lead guitarist can really rip a mean solo. Of course I was pissed though that the PJ set was short, and would have probably rather seen them separate, but it was still good.

Petty's halftime show was great. I'm seeing him in August at the Gorge. Can't wait!

Solid Petty but very predictable, I actually guessed all 4 songs before the set. I have seen him live 3 times now and as much as I love him, his shows are basically the same every single time. I will most likely skip his tour this summer and spend my money on shows of other bands (particularly ones I havent seen)

I remember hearing that he doesn't mix it up that much. But after a 13 year drought of me not seeing him, it should be fairly fresh.

    i liked it....best halftime since u2....:)
  • Overall a pretty good 4 song set by Petty. ''American Girl'' was just a bit slow I thought. ''Won't Back Down'' was ok too. I liked ''Free Fallen'' and ''Running Down the Drain'' the most. :D

No way. Prince set the bar at its highest last year.

U2 was great and all, but Prince stole the show from the ballgame.

Tom Petty was just as I thought he'd be: smiling, sounding good, nice song selection, but nothing electrifying.

Watching paint dry and listening to a faucet drip would be better than anything Prince ever did.
