Oh you are most welcome love. :) Think cb's got you on the right path anyway. :)

Yeah, I'm right in the middle of a massive clear out here! I'm tired of having too much stuff! So I've been brutal in my culling and I feel strangely liberated now! :)

I know what you mean! Roland was talking about 'signs' and I did feel like it was an omen that it was time to 'clean out'! I'm going to donate some of the suits I never wear and I took out all the stuff I never wear!

    It does indeed feel liberating

    hah,
I love when guys are all handy like this! One of the drawbacks of being single :(
but oooh that requires a drill. Which I do not have and would be afraid to try and use.

The plastic anchor doo-hickeys seem simpler :)

wait can't I just get some Krazy Glue? :) Lol. Just kidding!

Oh yes!! :D I had all kinds of signs it was time and I threw myself into it and got rid of a whole bunch of things that I don't need or will ever wear again, not to mention shoes. And now I'm working on the filing and getting rid of a bunch of papers and then I'll move onto the computer and purge a whole bunch of crap from there too! :)

oh I remember my shoes! Shoes are my thing! I looove Shoes.

I found some stuff in my closet with tags on it :( And suits I'd worn once! I want to donate them to this organization called Dress for Success (I think? that's what it is called)-they help low income women go on job interviews and help them to get the proper business attire!

ooh! That's an awesome idea! :) I might have to see if we have that here too. I've just given my sister in law a bunch of stuff with the tags still on that I've never worn and there's more of it in storage! :o HOWEVER I have learned to get very clever about my shopping now and I think that won't be happening again. :)

Oh and I love shoes too but with my clod hopping feet, well they're complicated feet anyway, I find it hard to find nice shoes that fit, which is just as well because if it wasn't a hassle I'd have a real problem on my hands. :)

Well I think you'd be surprised Allie. There's a lot of satisfaction in being able to fix these things yourself. :) It's why I got started. :) Imagine being able to fix stuff around the house as it came up and know that you didn't need some high falooting handyman with dollar signs in his eyes just because you're a girl. That's what motivated me. :)

good point! Yea I hate when they look at me like that at gas stations/car repairs. It's like I can pump my own gas and change oil and i know a thing or two about cars! Back off! hee hee :)
I'd still like to have a high falootin big strong man to fix it for me though :) It's just easier. and kinda hot ;) Hee hee!!! but ok I'll get with the whole female empowerment thing, thanks Jeanie!

Well it's no hardship having a big strong man about the place to do stuff!!! :D As long as you know what he's doing and he ain't overcharging! :D

That's why I sussed stuff out cars and odd jobs and home maintenance and the like, so I could do it if need be or at least if I had to get someone in I knew what to expect and I couldn't be swindled because believe me that happened a lot when I was younger.

Well I had to buy stuff earlier this year for a wedding because everything is too big now and I was thinking I'd have to fork out quite a bit and it was making me cranky because I knew I'd probably only wear it a few times BUT I got real lucky and managed to walk in and find two tops on sale reduced from $80 to $20 and another reduced from $70 to $10 and a pair of black pants, really comfy but beautifully tailored ones at Target reduced from $50 to $30. Thankfully I already had a beautiful pair of electric blue strappy heels that went with the top. :) So it's all good! Oh and I wear size 10 in shoes too! :) So I understand your struggle very well! Sale time is the best time to find really good quality cute shoes in Size 10. Trust me I've found some stunners! :)

    Guys, (or ladies)-or anybody handy,

I have a wooden rod in my closet that my clothes hang on

and it keeps falling! The thing that the rod goes into on the wall keeps coming loose. I fastened it with some duct tape b/c that's all I have on hand, is there something else I can do? SHould I buy a new rod in Home Depot? Can I glue it or something?

I am not very handy with these things. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

(oh and yes I took some of the clothes out of the closet, I thought I had too much stuff hanging on there).

i don't know if it's been mentionmed yet or not, but i would use wall anchors and screws to properly affix the supports to the wall. go to a hardware store and any one there will be able to help you. often the wall anchors and accompanying screws are sold together as a set. tell them what you need it for, to support a clothesrod, and they'll know you need anchors that can bear a heavy load. there are anchors that need to have pre-drilled holes...or those that can be simply screwed in. personally, i think pre-drilling is wisest. then, you simply put the support up and screw the screws into the anchors...voila!

I meant it in jest :p

If you're serious, do three things....

    Buy metal hanger thingies.

Use much longer and larger screws than they come with.

Make sure you screw into wood (if you can't hit wood, use some kind of hollow wall anchor).

    There you have it!
