You are aware of the Wii game library, right?

Ha exactley the Wii has just produced a bunch of crappy games that are tryin to fit this new 'gimmick' in. Most of the games are just awful but people buy into it just because you can have your arms around like a fly with one of it's wings broken off. Wii sports is the best the console has to offer IMO.

no... i dont have a wii... is it a game about books?? i didnt mean to say nintendo doesnt release their fair share of shitty games too... they just have enough classics to fall back on... whereas PS has what? crash bandicoot? though obviously they also sometimes butcher those (mario sunshine, luigis mansion, that donkey kong bongo game, etc)

Nintendo really know how to beat a dead horse. They need to come up with something new instead of Mario / Zelda ect ect.
Nintendo may beat dead horses, but honestly, Mario, Zelda, Mega Man, Metroid, etc., games are high quality. Now take Mario Party or Mario (insert sport here), and I'll say those should die because there's nothing new to offer.

And by your logic, fuck Medal Gear Solid 4, Call of Duty 5 and Resident Evil 5! Those games look fantastic.

As far as coming up with something new? How about the creation of games that are copied by any and everyone? Mario 1, 3, and 64 have been shit on by countless attempts, just as Mario Kart and A Link to the Past and several others. As far as I'm concerned, Nintendo has the most originality over any other platform. However there are countless shit games like Hannah Montana and anything based off a movie that I see littering the isles as well.

    Games/gameplay > Graphics to me.

Sony's got a few franchises on the go now that they can fall back on - Final Fantasy, Grand Theft Auto, Resident Evil, Gran Turismo, God of War, Metal Gear, etc.
None are as long-lived as Mario, granted, and exclusivity is getting rare, but all the console's have their franchises now.
And they ALL pollute their libraries with a lot of filth. ;)

@ Danny72688 - I agree, but there's only so far your graphics can take a dive before gameplay is screwed.

AGREED! i would be content if everything went back to side scrolling SNES graphics as long as it still had a cool story

final fantasy got its start with nintendo, no? i remember i had a final fantasy game for SNES... and resident evil and gran turismo are multi-platform games arent they? i see what you're saying though... i think X-box has one of the greatest franchises ever with halo... would've been cool to see that evolved out of the 16-bit era into what it is today... thats my favorite part of it... even if the stories have alot of similarities, its cool to see what improvements are made with each system...

thats my problem with the gamecube > wii... not enough improvement... just the motion controller shit

GameCube is pretty shitty, and the Wii is too. That is compared to Nintendo 64 and all that pre-dates that system. GC and Wii have a good amount of excellent games though. And I like the whole motion sensor deal, needs much improvement though.

GC's downfall was marketing too much to the young crowd... maybe its just cause im growing up, but it definitely seemed like a very sudden dumbing-down... there was a handful of good games but pretty much every one of them was from one of the series we already mentioned... the best part of it was the controllers... fit my hands perfectly... oh and another thing that did them in was the mini-CDs instead of being able to play music and DVDs on it... i think the Wii is a step in the right direction, but i will wait for nintendos next system before i buy another from them... that is unless they release another zelda game that is Wii only (i was able to get twilight princess for the GC)

Nintendo aims at family for the most part. That isn't to say there aren't any non-family games. No More Heroes, and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles are two of my favorite games for the system. Mainly because of play control. Arcade style feel. That's what the whole home console stood for back in the day anyway. Bring the arcade home. That's a big part of why Rock Band and Guitar Hero are selling like hotcakes, they are arcade style games. Replay value, skill level, getting enveloped in the game...

The Wii also does not support CD/DVD play. But, I bought a Wii to play games so I don't give a fuck :D

    Pretty much.
The Wii is the only one I'm not really into. I like some games but not enough to justify getting the system.

dont they have "time crisis" for the Wii now?? thats my favorite arcade of all time... maybe tied with the x-men arcade... i think the wii gun controller is a great idea for shooters... ive just heard theres a lot of problems with how it works...

and as much as you just bought it to play games, im surprised nintendo seems so hesitant to get with the times and follow the success of other platforms with things like blueray and all that other jazz... i respect keeping the focus on the games, but i think if nintendo doesnt keep up theyre going to go the way of sega... and i dont wanna see that

Oh Nintendo is far from perfect. They've got some awesome ideas and concepts. The need to tweak and perfect what they have already as well. I can only hope they are followed through with it all, unlike the Super Scope, Duck Hunt gun, or the mouse pad with Mario Paint. And as far as making it an entertainment center versus a gaming console, well that's up to Nintendo. I'd rather it be known for games, not being a toaster on the side ;)

EDIT: Not sure about Time Crisis.

Final Fantasy (near all of them) has had some very impressive soundtracks as well. And you're right, the Halo trilogy soundtracks were pretty good.

True, never thought of that one seeing as I've only ever gotten into MGS4.
The Final Fantasy composer is quite well known/established as well.
