I don't see anything wrong with how he's dressed in that photo...you can't tell if he's wearing a flashy watch or what, we're just assuming he is because he's bono...I don't think he looks too flashy though. would it give him more cred if he bought a whole new "poor people outfit" for the trip?
Haha, "poor people outfit"?
How about dress like an african relief worker? Poor or not.
How about dress like an african relief worker? Poor or not.
haha I don't know, I don't know what you expect him to be wearing! isn't he just wearing a plain shirt in that photo?
also, as I said above, when I saw bono out in public, I probably wouldn't have recognized him without the glasses. part of the value that bono brings to a relief effort is that he IS recognized, and his glasses and whatnot have become part of that. and hell if I was over in africa, I'd probably wear my oakleys. I ALWAYS wear my oakleys. i'm not comfortable in any amount of sunlight without them.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
He's a rock star people. He likes to dress the part. Big fuckin' deal. His heart is in the right place and he does make a difference. He's done a whole lot more for the poor people in the world than the rest of us commenting here combined so, say what you will about his ego or his wardrobe. I greatly admire the man. Not everyone can dress as humbly as Eddie.

I see your point about him being recognized. I guess it's a double edged sword. In one eye he looks like he wants to be recognized....why would he care to be recognized in Africa....why is it necessary to wear Armani sunglasses while in a war zone, or while bringing food to poor villages?
But then people see him as the guy helping in Africa....when images are seen in the media.
I do what I can do charity-wise, but I can't see myself volunteering at a soup kitchen, and showing up wearing my nice leather coat, nice watch, slacks and dress shoes. I'd probably wear my poor people outfit.

What is an African Relief Worker ourfit?
Plus I don't think Bono owns poor people clothes since he hasn't been poor since 1980. Should he be forced to shop at Ross before he goes to Africa next?
What about TJ Maxx?

But that's the thing. The $1000 sunglasses and $750 scarf are Bono's "poor clothes".
"The leads are weak!"
"The leads are weak? Fuckin' leads are weak? You're Weak! I've Been in this business 15 years"
i will agree on the latter one, that guy is a total prick i never liked him. and what's it with wearing sunglasses all the time?? - prick. haha, ooohhh look at me people i a rock star!
I can just imagine him handing a little impoverished kid a sack of $2 rice....while wearing $1000 glasses, a $750 scarf, $800 shoes, $600 jeans and a $4000 leather jacket....and a $400 haircut (with $500 of coloring).
He could do the same like most fortunate people on the face of mother earth: Do Nothing! Criticizing his expensive accessories is kind of lame, he's not a politician and doesn't need to be criticized why he's wearing what he wears. After all he doesn't live off our tax money and nobody voted for him. I'm glad at least one of those "Rockstars" cares even if his band isn't the greatest ....

hey it's all good. but i guess the reason why so many people don't like him is because of the way he comes across, he just acts like an arrogant self-centred guy.

"FUCK YOU! THAT"S MY NAME!"
haha, you're right!
wow, you put a lot of effort into that .
but honestly, I've never done relief work in africa, but I'm sure what you wear depends on what you're actually doing all day.
I give in!
Bono for King!
I didn't see a price tag on either item.
The guy still sucks.
You'd think he'd be wearing these!

I have done relief work in Africa, and one thing you don't want to do is look too flashy, unless you have a security team behind you.
But this is Bono's image now, this is how we recognize him. I don't really care how he looks, he makes awareness, and that's the important thing.
i will agree on the latter one, that guy is a total prick i never liked him. and what's it with wearing sunglasses all the time?? - prick. haha, ooohhh look at me people i a rock star!
and also, if he does help someone we'd be sure to know about it
