Does your second post mean that the only reason to want to start is that it's the cool thing to do?
    ;)
    IMO :)

It was certainly cool when I was 9! AND it made me cooler in school also. Not something I'm proud of... but a fact that I can't deny... even if I wanted to.

What on earth did you think I was debating? I was debating nothing at all except for cigarette-induced anxiety which actually makes your misinterpretation of my thread, 'stupid'. Again, I was not debating whether Mark was a stupid little boy for smoking 'at your age'.. but that's exactly what you decided to do. It was unnecessary, irrelevant and most certainly uncalled for.
    whatever you say!

Well that opinion is extremely wrong. But hey, you were 9, you should know.

    Cool.

Is it me, or does Harmless seem more bitter than ever..and here I thought the young lad was getting his whistle cleaned on a more regular basis....though admitedly I haven't been paying that much attention lately ;)..

Anyway, don't think it's due to smoking..

I hate it when people talk about others behind their backs in order to seek approval and 'funny man' status, but it looks even worse on a public message board.

Hey, I've been doing it successfully (highly debatable) for many years, and have even made you laugh from time to time. Not to mention also have replied with sincere sympathy to some of your more self-hating/depressing threads..and btw, I thought you were like best friends with dunkman no? ;)..

  • Now, I know you're debating whether smoking causes anxiety or not, we all know it does  but I think this lil' Irish lady's got a point...
I don't understand how AN ADULT would start something like this.

Why would you start at your age, especially with all the government warnings and common knowledge about the risks of it?!
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

I think the important question is:

As well as high anxiety, does smoking decrease sense of humour?

I think I've already admitted that at the time I started, I was so thoroughly anxious, depressed and under so much stress that I didn't care how destructive it was.. it calmed me down when nothing else did, in the short term, and that's all I cared about. There was no ignorance here. Quite the opposite. I liked the fact that it was a slow and gentle way of throwing myself under a metaphorical bus.

I no longer feel that way (often) and so I'm quitting.

Helen, you want a real challenge, how about joining me? ;)

It means that you're 28ish now, surely you know how bad smoking is for you.
    Just quit already ;)

    yeah...not that easy.

I've been smoking since I was 14....I really doubt theres any turning back now.

    Not with that attitude.
