New York CITY isn't the only thing in the state of New York.

Buffalo is in New York State. A long ways from New York City (7+ hours driving, I beleive). And yes, it is closer to Cleveland (about 3 hours drive).

    8/26/98 - Cleveland

    I love the GGD!
and I went to college up there. Yes, Buffalo is in NY State. New York is quite a big state. It is about 8 hrs or so driving time from NYC.

It's on Lake Erie and it's not far from Niagara Falls and maybe an hour? or so from Toronto.

and there is super tasty food up there, not just the wings. I believe the Anchor Bar is the place where the wings were first served.

I had a good time when I went to school up there.

New York City is the largest city but it is within the state of New York :)
There are many other cities in New York. Me personally, I consider anything north of NYC 'upstate' :)

NYC is made up of 5 boroughs, Manhattan (that is the 'city' proper), the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. Then there's Long Island, which is considered a suburb of NYC, and that is east of the city.

Albany is the capital of NY State. Off the top of my head, Syracuse is another major city that's sort of in the middle of the state and there are several other cities
but the 'focus' tends to be on NYCity :)

Buffalo has the greatest fast food taco place ever.......MIGHTY TACO...ITS THE SHIZNIT

Anyways, NY is such a diverse state. In one of the Atlantic City 05 shows, Ed dedicates small town to three upstate NY cities. Most you probably have never heard of them, "this goes out to any one from Utica, Ithaca, our Poughipsee (I know I spelled that one wrong).

NY is a state were you can go from being in a one of the most major economic and culturally diverse centers of the world to the beauty of Mount Marcy in the middle of the Adirondack State Park.

it actually on the western border and right next to Canada.

We traveled through New York, didn't go to Buffalo, we went from NYC to Binghamton (Greyhound), then hitch hiked to Ithaca and surrounding areas, Watkins Glen (beautiful), up to Geneva and a family then drove us from Geneva to Niagara Falls. We only saw a small part of the Finger Lakes area, but it was beautiful.

The woman we stayed with in Binghamton used to have a B&B but wasn't able to keep it due to taxes.

And there was an article about my brother and me in the Finger Lakes Times :)

edit: NYC, Binghamton, Endicott, Owego, Ithaca, Watkins Glen, Geneva, Niagara Falls) and on our ways back to NYC (coming from Pittsfield, Mass) Woodstock (can't remember where we went before woodstock), Esopus, New Paltz (the Gunks!), Beacon and then we took a train to NYC.

    Beautiful!
    THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!
