umm, yeah, I'd be scared too, then I would grab my gun and what I could carry out to my car, and drive far far away!
After typing that, I looked and saw you live in Hayward, WI?!?!?!?!?
What the HELL? Where is that, and why is there a lion at your door? I grew up just north of Milwaukee, never seen anything like that!0 -
whoa!!! those fuckers are dangerous......stay far away.....:eek:0

about an hour south of lake superior...
but living in chicago/milwaukee area... crackheads more dangerous0 -
Interesting.....don't know what the status of that species is in Wisconsin. If you were further east or south, I would suspect that it was an escaped pet. You should contact the state fish & wildlife division. If it is an escaped pet, it should be captured and placed in a big cat rehab site. BTW as someone earlier posted, they are a dangerous animal. All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.0

Everyone knows they are dangerous... I also would not feel safe with that on the other side of my regular sliding glass door, I hope you have some thick zoo glass on your house.
wtf, I used to camp/hike/fish up by lake superior, I didn't know there were lions there... that is a big cat!!!0 -
Wild life has been making a comeback, which is a good thing. Coyotes have been making a comeback around Chicago. When I was a kid they were unheard of around here.KosmicJelli wrote:yes.. in wisconsin... just a scare tactic to keep tourist away...j/k0 -
actually a cougar... we have them... what scary reported sitings have been all over...
it used to be that way for black bears a few years back a few sitings... but now you see them all the time.... I hope DNR keeps population under control...0 -

I know... deer too... One time driving home back from Wisconsin didnt see one deer run across the road during their "rutting" season... until i got 1 mile from my old house...0 -
Interesting....that they are making a comeback in that area. It's also interesting that it came upon the porch and was not flushed by you and the camera....that's one of the reasons that I suspected escaped pet so quickly. Do you feed any pets outdoors?? Dangerous, yes, but will generally leave humans alone. I know folks who might trade in their right nut for such a sighting. Great job catching some snapshots.KosmicJelli wrote:actually a cougar... we have them... what scary reported sitings have been all over...

Cougar=Puma=Catamount=Mountain Lion...if I remember right, it has even more common names. All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. Well, deer around where I grew up were always a problem because of lack of predators. I lived a few minutes from the loop and almost got mauled by a buck a few times walking to the bus stop. More predators are needed to keep the population under control. Mountains lions used to naturally hunt around here a hundred years ago, but man killed them off.KosmicJelli wrote:I know... deer too... I say embrace nature! If you get eaten, atleast it was for a good cause!

Gawd, Americans are such pansies when it comes to wildlife. Of course, I spent last weekend deep in the woods in a snow cave, so animals don't frighten me. You could have that cat living in your spare bedroom and you would still have a greater chance of being injured, robbed, raped, or killed by some random human being.Idaho's Premier Outdoor Writer

Coyotes have been moving east and north for a couple of decades.....entered the Southeast back in the 1980's and have made it, on their own, all the way to the Smoky Mountains National Park in recent years. The Park Service even had to decide whether to remove them from the park or let them be......because they arrived on their own with direct human intervention, they are going to be allowed to stay.LikeAnOcean wrote:Wild life has been making a comeback, which is a good thing. oh so very true....0 -
True. People are a bigger threat to other people than wild life. I bet if she opened that door that thing would have ran for its life!eyedclaar wrote:Gawd, Americans are such pansies when it comes to wildlife. The wolves probably did more of the work than the Mountain Lions....but there exists that uneasy balance between wolf & man.LikeAnOcean wrote:Well, deer around where I grew up were always a problem because of lack of predators. I spend a lot of time in the woods/montains and I have always said that if I get killed by a wild animal, I absolutely insist that no harm comes to it. In fact, my dying wish would be to give the animal a medal of honor.Idaho's Premier Outdoor Writer

The mentality of people amazes me. A kid can get hit by a car and cars are okay, but a kid gets eaten by wild life in a freak accident and the mentality is kill them all.tybird wrote:The wolves probably did more of the work than the Mountain Lions....but there exists that uneasy balance between wolf & man.
Bring back the Wolf, the bicen and the mountain lion!0
