I couldn't disagree with this more. 45 out of 45 espn baseball experts picked Boston to win the al east. True story. The Yankees came in with a rotation that includes Freddy Garcia and Bartolo colon. No one thought the Yankees would win and like I said recently, I am not confident they will this year.

Yeah in a vacuum where no one gets injured.

Sorry but without the horrible start and the loss of 40% of the starting the rotation the Red Sox, should/would have won upwards of 98 games. But baseball isn't played in a vacuum, that's the problem with expert picks, they cannot forsee what will happen to the Red Sox starting rotation, or that Bartolo Colon would eat children in order to throw 95 again, or even that Jacoby Ellsbury and Curtis Granderson would have the amazing years they are having.

Casting the Yankees as underdogs is just idiotic, the only underdogs in the AL East are the Jays and Orioles. You could have told me in April that the Yankees would win the division and I wouldn't have been shocked, same with the Rays.

But I guess does anyone think any of these teams are getting past Philly? I saw Lee vs Beckett in Philly this year, and wow, I don't want to see him pitch against the Red Sox ever again.

  • That was a really good ballgame. Often when teams have slumps like that, the win that ends it is not a routine 7-0 victory.

Anything can happen in a best-of-7 series. Phillies just snapped an 8 game losing streak. Longest since 2000 I think.

actually a team would have a better shot beating the phils in a 5 game series (imo)

    Ellsbury just saved the season
Yup. Absolutley. 1 game ahead with 3 left. So much more promising. Hopefully this win sparks a fire with the rest of the team. :)

You guys got it. Hell of a day for Ellsbury yesterday. Scott Proctor blows.

Yeah, Pete Abe said after the game that it didn't come from a baseball writer. So, why bring it up and cry about it to a bunch of baseball writers?

Yeah, it sounds bad but who the hell knows whats going on with his life and if she even still has cancer. Bad timing but as much as I hate him, I will try to not pass judgement since I can't know whats going on. Then again he is a scumbag so maybe he shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt.

Yea, the first round scares me the most, especially with the recent slide. If it's the Cardinals then Pujols & Garcia could win the series on their own. Doc & Lee in Games 1 & 2 alleviate that fear a little bit.

I made it through 10 innings last night. I kept forgetting which team I was supposed to be rooting for. Really I was just enjoying some good baseball. The game actually was on about a 3 hour pace, until they added on 5 innings.

I never thought I would stick up for Lackey but none of us know whats going on with their relationship and I am pretty sure I read she has been done with chemo since June.
  • He did it probably because there's no way the Yankees or any other major league baseball team would ever credential anyone from TMZ. TMZ probably got his phone number from court documents on it. Hard to believe the guy has 12 wins, but that's what run support will do.

i agree. but not to go totally sob story, it takes a man to stick by your wife while she is battling cancer. if you can over come that as a couple, what can't you over come?

but all of that might be for another thread.

the sox should have gotten some positive momentum lastnight, wonder what they have left in the tank today though after a 14 inninger.

do i smell one game playoff? :D

Why doesn't he just called the guy back and tell him he's a jackass?

Good point. Maybe she had something to do with it and realized she can take half his money and not have to look at his ugly mug ever again.

That would be fun. I think Boston get's in though with that win last night though.

I don't know, but from my understanding, that type of combative attitude is somewhat normal for Lackey in Boston.

Haha, yeah. Just ask his infielders when they make an error.
  • Still so many problems with this team, but I sighed relief after that Ellsbury homer. Let's take care of business in Baltimore and turn the page.

We just need to make the playoffs.. We can dump the back end of the rotation, our lineup will be a little more motivated (i hope). it all changes and anything can happen. let's go sox.
I will be what i could be
