Well Dave, seems to me there's a gap in the market for a new Johnny Ball type of personality. You know, crazy, lunatic, fun, really brainy at maths kinda guy...how about that?
Unfortunately Jamie, I satisfy none of the above criteria.

I bet he said that once...untapped talent is what you are Dave.
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

Asks me what i'm going to do when I leave university, i'm going to kick them in the head. :(

Seriously. I am so sick of this. Last time I checked, pretty much no one knows what they want to do with their lives, so why should I be any different? I mean, it's one thing for my parents to ask. That's fair enough, i'll tell them to leave the subject alone or i'll stop coming back from uni to visit (those kinda threats give me a lot of power :p). But when people who don't know me start asking me, then asking me why I don't know...that really pisses me off.

I spent an hour with a lecturer today (a seminar that no one else turned up to...great!) and he basically just told me that by not making decisions now, I am harming my chances later. He's probably right...but the bottom line is...I really don't CARE. With the degree i'm going to get, i'm sure I could earn a fair amount of money, in an extremely boring field that I don't enjoy...but I don't want to. I don't care about money. I didn't come to uni to get myself a high paying job, I came to challenge myself.

I guess my point is...why are expected to know what we want to do with our lives from such an early age? And why does everyone seem to care more about what you do than who you are? They are not the same thing.

*embarrassed* I think I asked you that several times drunk on Saturday.... wondered why you didn't answer...

I don't actually know what I wanna do with my life either tbh... i'm 23 and have (hopefully) another 70 years or so to decide.
As long as i'm happy and feel, as you so eloquantly put it, "challenged", I feel i've succeeded.
I'm starting a degree next year in humanities. Not because I know what I want to do yet but because I feel like challenging myself and just doing something productive that will hopefully help me to decide in the long run. And if it doesn't? Meh! What have I lost? Nothing.
Some people feel only money and 'career' make them a success in life. In my experience they are quite empty people, not all are the same I might add, but the ones I've met are.
Personally i'm here for a good times, for love, to make a lasting impression and thats about it. You don't need a degree for that :D

Tell everyone to bollock off and, whatever you decide to do after your degree, good luck. Just be happy :)
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

dont get too annoyed by it. just tell them you dont know, then theyll be uncomfortable and move the conversation on :D

or do like i do and tell them that you;re going away, when they ask where or for how long, say "everywhere, and however long it takes".

the look of curiosity immediately turns to one of jealousy
