The Dark Knight, for wanting to be a super realistic movie, has a glaring amount of plot holes. Not a single one of the Joker's plans would be possible if you think about it for more than 3 seconds. How does he get all the explosives on the boats without anyone noticing? How does he rig an entire building to collapse. This would take days and days of rigging. How does no one notice that bus? Why does he shoot at Dent in the big car chase if he wants him to live? A bomb inside someone? REALLY? How does he get out of the interrogation room when the doors don't open from the inside? 3D sonar images from cell phones? Give me a break. I could go on, but I hate the movie, and don't want to think about it any more.

And that Batmobile is still really, really lame.

Really, why so serious? It's just a movie.

Well, I'm pretty sure Batman himself wouldn't be possible, if you think about it for more than 3 seconds. :D

well he did have alot of people helping him... and the bus was used by the hospital for patients but the joker and his crew stole it right from under their nose. thats where all the hostages at the end came from. sure there is some plot holes but you mentioned some things that arent.
  • The plot was far from enthralling in my opinion...didn't really grab me or create much suspense. It felt flat.
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

  • The film felt chaotic, in terms of storyline and the actual pacing of the film. I think it was meant to be like that; The Joker created chaos which affected everybody and everything, and i love that the creators of the film managed to make the film feel chaotic.

Criticising Batman's voice....i think it's silly but fair enough if it bugged you. However, the comics do state that he disguises his voice so it wasn't something stupid that the filmmakers decided to put in there. It's a part of the Batman character.

Although Ledger was by far the greatest thing in the film, the rest of it was still top notch. It didn't feel too long for me, and every actor turned in a great performance. Harvey Dent really sunk in the second time around.

Easily the best superhero movie every made, and pretty damn impressive in terms of films in general. It surpassed the hype for me, and The Joker is still on my mind.

    A) It is a comic book film so we are politely asked to suspend all real world belief, if you go in expecting hard reality, perhaps you shouldn't go in in the first place.

    B) Gary Oldman leaves the interrogation room from the inside without anyone esle opening the door for him so we can chalk that off your list of complaints. Obviously it does open from the inside.

    C) What is so absurd about an explosive device implanted in someone through surgery? I am not medical but people get shit left inside them dring surgery now and then, there is room in there for stuff.

    D) He only shoots at the Dent with the smaller weapons, the rockets are fired at vehicles ahead of the Dent vehicle and one hits the Batmobile.

A: Chris Nolan and Christian Bale both say that they wanted to make an uncomic book Batman movie. They wanted as realistic as possible. They failed. And suspend real world belief argument is a cop out. Just because it's a movie, doesn't mean it has to be stupid.

B: That's not how those doors work. See A.

C: I am not medical, and neither is the Joker. See A.

D: The whole chase is such a pointless event. The Joker wants to get caught, so he shoots rockets at all the police? That works. What a plan.

Also, I forgot to mention how unGotham Chicago is. So that was lame. Also, in response to someone above, why do people work for the Joker is he just shoots them all? Wouldn't the word get around the stay the hell away?

Anyway, most people love the movie. I just happen to think it's sort of a joke.

I'm bored so I'll go ahead and respond to these... "complaints"
How does he get all the explosives on the boats without anyone noticing?
he has several people working for him, including cops.
How does he rig an entire building to collapse.
see above. he has tons of people working for him, and plants bombs.
This would take days and days of rigging.
    and? it's impossible?
How does no one notice that bus?
which bus? the one that was taken from the hospital or the one from the bank?
if it's the hospital, keep in mind that they have to worry about evacuating entire HOSPITALS, surely one being taken is possible, and the police noticed right away...
if it's the one from the bank, then the scene ended quite abruptly once he left the bank, so you don't really know what happens. I'm sure he didn't drive the bus straight home, he obviously had another plan...
Why does he shoot at Dent in the big car chase if he wants him to live?
who said he wants him to live? the Joker said to Dent that he's a man with no plan, meaning maybe he thought of the plan to turn Dent evil afterwards... maybe if he killed Dent early on, then Gotham would still turn into chaos, there are many possible answers. it's left open-ended to pick out your own answer.
    A bomb inside someone? REALLY?
    yep.
How does he get out of the interrogation room when the doors don't open from the inside?
oh come on, like someone mentioned, Gordon left the room without anyone opening the door. Also, it was a special interrogation room in the MCU, meaning it could have different. Plus, you never see Joker open the door, meaning he could have held that piece of glass to the cop's throat early on and forced someone on the outside to open the door. either way, that's not a real complaint...
3D sonar images from cell phones? Give me a break.
feel free to disprove the possibility of that. i could care less to do the research to scientifically prove it impossible, but if you'd like to, then go ahead.
I could go on, but I hate the movie, and don't want to think about it any more.

i personally loved it! (saw this movie in Costa Rica :))
Heath Ledger's best role by far, and he should definitely be nominated & win an Oscar for it! (the oscar comittee are a bunch of fools if he doesn't get nominated for that amazing performance).
hype is usually overrated, but this hype was not.
but hey, we can't all love it

You sound like my friend. He swears Tim Burton's version is the best(even before this one came out)

When I watch this film(and Batman Begins) I dont think about past films, Jack, Keaton, or the hot Kim Basinger

My buddy is an aspiring actor/waiter/painter and Jack is his acting muse that after we saw Dark Knight he even criticized Ledger...sayin all the buzz and praise is only due to his untimely death

Its like if he enjoys this movie he is disrespecting Jack

I then told him that if a band or singer(other than PJ) come out with a good record I always give kudos...doesn't mean I like PJ less

My friends a dumbass, take this movie for what it is worth...a good chance to sit in an AC room in the hot summer and watch some shit blow up, and some good performances

I agree! However I don't really like superhero movies.

Ledger's Joker was fucking brilliant. Unfortunately because of that, I couldn't give a fuck less what was happening to the other characters, especially when Joker was off camera.

    A) Uncomic or not it is still based on a man dressed as a bat dealing with an assortment of comic book criminals. So.......

    B) Unfortunately for you, in this movie it is how these doors work. See A.

    C) You didn't really argue my point there, stupid or not, is it not possible?? See A.

    D) He wants to get caught and if he attacks the convoy BATMAN will catch him........... the way the chase ends is not the plan, but it still ends in him being caught.

_Outlaw's posts is also worth reading.........

I do agree though, that Gotham is portrayed too much as a modern steel and glass metropolis and isn't representative of how Gotham should be, IMO.

For people who think it sounds silly, well, it's coming from someone dressed as a bat. If you can accept that, you should be able to accept the voice.
this made me literally lol. :D

and yeah, i'm with the majority overhyping and saying this is the best movie ever. :)

    Heath Ledger was excellent.
    Batman voice extremely irritating.
The guy with half a face seemed to be an add on.
    Incredibly overrated.
    Far too long.
    Was glad when it finished.
  • I know I am gonna get bashed for this but I just thought it was pretty cool but not flawless like everybody else seems to think. Heath Ledger was amazing and the action scenes were great. I was very annoyed by Batmans phoney voice and the movie was a bit hard to follow at times. I also thought some of the dialogue was a bit cheesy. Overall I would give it a 7.5 or 8 at most.

THANK YOU! the movie was good but my thoughts exactly.
