Rocky Marciano's heavyweight record won't be beaten now the division is in such decline. He won all 49 of his professional fights. Not even Larry Holmes could equal it, though he came close. Marciano was overrated, for sure, and every champion from Liston onwards would have torn his head off, but his record still stands.
  • The Montreal Canadians 5 cups in a row.

    Cal Ripkens Iron Man streak.

Didnt the Celtics win 9 titles in a row?

Wayne Gretzkys 92 goals and 215 points in a season.

Wayne Gretzkys 50 goals in 39 games and 61 goals in 50 games.

Teemu Selannes 76 goals in a rookie season.

Joe D's streak will be broken someday. It will be difficult, but it's not untouchable.

Obviously Cy Young's 511 wins will never be broken, unless the way managers use pitchers radically changes.

    My list:

    - Al Spalding's 54 wins in ONE season. (back in the 1870's, I think.)

    - Fernando Tatis' two grand slams in ONE inning. I mean, come on, that one's going to be impossible to BREAK (a tie might happen, though).

    - Ripken's 2632 consecutive games.

Charles "Old Hoss" Radbourn had 60 in 1884 (some say 59 mins).

favre's streak is truly unbelievable. if it was written in a book of fiction or seen in film, it would be considered over the top drama...but it's real! nothing short of amazing, and it would be difficult to think of how anyone could even come close. same with cal.

I think if favre's streak was a book or movie it would be pretty boring....don't get me know it's a great streak, just wouldn't call it exciting..

No one will ever win 5 European cups in a row, as Real Madrid did between 1956 and 1960. Simply, it will never happen again, not possible.
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

The Flyers now have two in a row, so maybe they can do this somewhat obscure one again:

The 1979-80 Philadelphia Flyers went 35 games without losing for the NHL's longest undefeated streak.

Much harder now that there aren't ties in the sport.

Of course, I agree with most of the others folks have said as well.

I would say that Greg Maddux 17 years of 15+ wins will never be broken either. Guys just arent going to have the longevity like that any longer.

I'll be suprised if anyone manages to ever go a whole Premier league season unbeaten again, as Arsenal did in 2003/04 season.

:D I thought you lot would be scratching your heads...:D
Football, association football (soccer to you) Arsenal is a team in north London, and they completed a whole season undefeated, 38 games. Pretty much unheard of since just after the war I think.
Not my team, but fair play to them.

    Football. The non-NFL variety.

Hmm. I think this one's too new to say it's gonna stand forever. Plus, Miami had a perfect, albeit shorter, regular season AND won the Super Bowl that year.

I know. I hate it. But I think if it does ever get broken, it will be a very long time. That is, IF it ever gets broken. I can be optimistic, can't I?
