I just used the ignore button a lot. Whenever someone says something REALLY, REALLY stupid on the board such as comparing Ed to Britney Spears or saying that all cops should die. I just choose to ignore that person for a few days before I say what I really feel and get banned.

Thats not true at all. I'v been banned for life and I'm here. It was just a few days then I cursed out the mods and later when I tried to sign back in. It said banned for life. So I waited a few days and cooled off a bit and I begged them to come back. I still have the PM in my box. Im not bragging, it was stupied for me to do that. I try to think before I speak but it dosent always work out.

hahaha...you're right, it IS insanity!

i knew i didn't have it *quite* right, but sure...in this case...stupidity, insanity.....it all works. i still forget who said it tho, but good stuff none the less!

i just use my own internal filter for *ignoring*....and i've said it often enough, i find the PM function VERY therapeutic. you can say whatEVER you want to say - well, within reason of course - in PMs.

maybe thats it? maybe people who get seemingly endless time-outs think they will always get endless time-outs...instead of eventually being expected to follow the rules like everyone else here. it ain't rocket science, that's for damn sure......

there is no divine right to post on this, or any, message board. there are rules, and it's your choice to join, follow em...or be asked to leave if it doesn't work out. privately hosted space, yada, yada...and don't even bother with the whole 'freedom of speech' bit.....b/c it IS still there, intact.

what's sad is there are people that are here that should be banned and people that were more or less just having fun are no longer allowed here...probably because some overly sensitive people reported them

who knows.....it sure isn't an *exact* sceince, dealing with human dynamics.

as to the 'more or less'....perhaps the mods saw it more like 'less'....and more like...rude/disrespectufl/incessant? dunno. i think it's a tough call to make what they do most of the time.


bottomline, it IS easy enough to follow the rules and NOT get permanently banned, eh? the vast majority of people manage to do so, no?

btw - i totally disagree with 'blaming' others for reporting posts, or 'trying' to get someone banned, etc. we are ALL responsible for our OWN behavior. whether someone takes issue with our posts or not...really makes no difference if you ARe following posting guidelines.

We all agreed to the rules when we came here and I see no reason why people have to be nasty.

That being said, I was banned once for 24 hours for saying F U to someone, but they deserved it

i love the rules here...it's why i'm here.....but even in my recent time here the bannings have become a bit capricious....speedy and lou's got banned for doing something completely innocuous....the mods know who they are and what they are about and they maybe deserved a 30 day ban but to get rid of them was going overboard...
