bored so why not put them in order, that in my opinion they stack up being the toughest ...1 being the toughest 6 being the weakest or wimpiest ....

    (1) hockey players ,get hit in the face with the puck no problem keep on skating..

    (2) american football players ,yeah i know they wear all the pads but still go ask tom brady how he felt after the super bowl ..

    (3) rugby players no pads just skin & bones they take good hits also ..

    (4) basketball players yeah they take hits also specially underneath the hoop ..

    (5) baseball players they are wimps occasionally the catcher will take a good hit but otherwise they sit with the sleightest pain ...

(6)soccer players these guys are total wimps just watch a game these fuckers fall & roll around the ground as if they got run over by a truck ...

so there it is agree or dissagree or post your own list unless none cares ...

I'm gonna get myself in trouble now, but I don't consider American Football, Baseball, Basketball & Ice Hokey as real sports. Not many people outside North America really care.

Now are we talking tough, as in macho man tough here?
Or just the toughness of the physical exertion on the athlete from the sport itself rather than opponents?
In that case don't they say the Tour de France in the toughest sporting event!

As a side note, I heard somewhere that the past time/hobbie that causes the most deaths each year is FISHING !!!!

hockey is a very tough sport. where else can you throat slashed by a skate and still be back the next week. oh my all time fav, former captain of the red wings steve y playing on one leg in the playoffs and still being better then all the other players on the ice . as for the rest i agree. hockey is def a not north american sport its played all over the world. its even played in ireland

Fair enough on hockey. But the others seem more like a circus show than a sport.
Maybe I just haven't watched enough of those sports to form a valid opinion.

All of those sports are very global though, with the exception of American Football.

Basketball is obviously growing quickly since team USA can't beat anyone anymore. Same with Baseball.

It seems such an event for people in the US to go watch a sporting match, whatever it may be.
I remember going to watch Man Utd play AC Milan (soccer!) at the Giants Stadium a few years ago. And me & my friends just turned up 30 mins before kick off, had a quick beer, then took out seats for the match. When the match was over we grabbed a taxi back into Manhattan and that was that.

But the American spectators seemsed to make a real day-out of it.
Speaking to some people at the stadium they were saying they'd been there since 9am !!!
The whole car park outside the stadium was full with families having picnics and just enjoying the whole day, not jusy going for the match.
A friend of mine who's lived out in Phoenix for 10 years was saying this is pretty normal which most sporting events.

Over here in the UK, it's very much just about THE MATCH.
But over in the US is seems to be more about the OCCASION.
Correct me if I'm talking shit! I just find the whole thing fascinating.

That's usually occurs during special events such as this or NFL football games, since those only happen once a week.

Tell that to Norman "Bite yer Legs" Hunter and the Man City Goalkeeper who carried on playing even though he'd broken his neck during the game.

Soccer is tougher than basketball, in my opinion. It's funny how it's always the Americans who say soccer is a sissy sport, maybe American soccer players are just sissies.

I played a lot of sports and some of the toughest were the ones a lot of people call sissy sports.

You have be tough if you are going to choose to play a sport where you are batting around a shuttlecock with a racket made of balsa wood and dental floss.
