that's certainly understandable. i think a lot of people are kind of indifferent about this one. definitely not my favourite on paper, but we'll see how it pans out.
edit: although i am very excited about the prospect of nogueira possibly winning the HW championship.
Yeah, it's more of the Brock v Mir fight and the undercard. I don't like Mir at all, but am hoping he kills Lesner. That would unfortunately keep him around though, and disappoint me. It's a lose, lose situation.
I want more Houston Alexander haha He has no ground game, no submission game, but I like seeing him knock guys out. I was there when he treated Jardine like a red headed step child. Was awesome.
They need to get him in there with another puncher, or even Marvin Eastman, depending on how he does tonight. That would be a cool fight. I think they're both in the same division, but not positive.
The Ultimate Fighter BS that's gonna hold up Rampage fighting forever is a pile of CRAPPP also... has me pretty pissed
i should have mentioned that if you wanted to see the show later on the files are usually uploaded by people to bittorrent sites by the morning. not sure if that helps...
i'm watching it right now. free online.
Tyson Griffin vs. Glason Tebow, right now
i'm watching it right now. free online.
Tyson Griffin vs. Glason Tebow, right now
nice. good on ya to find it!
great performance fom tyson there once again. he landed numerous clean shots and had that right going from the beginning. i was really impressed with tibau's ability to take him down, but griffin was equally impressive getting back to his feet. tyson's hands looked great.
..and man, does tibau have a chin or what!?!
...beautiful guillotine finish for ricardo in his return as well. nice for him to get a win under his belt for his confidence. i look forward to seeing what he can do now that he's back.
horn vs. marquardt coming up...could go either way. two excellent fighters with a lot of experience could make for a great fight, but their styles kind of clash a bit i think. that could make it a snoozer. i hope it's not, though!
i'm surprised nate was able to dominate jeremy like he did in the first. quite an immediate turnaround from his back to the standing guillotine in the second. impressive win for nate.
well, that was a questionable stand up and point deduction at the beginning. i didn't even hear a warning and it looked like only one hammerfist to the back of the head. the fight could have gone totally the other way if it had stayed down.
frank took some serious shots and was impressively cool to hang in there to get the knee bar. good on him.
at least brock showed that he is in there to fight. i'm intrigued about his next few fights and how he will progress while he continues to learn. maybe a little too aggressive, but he still looked like a beast on the ground.
I'm calling bullshit on the Mir fight. Since when do we stand guys up, and give no warning??
+1 over here.
...but then...wow! what a comeback by nogueira. as always he comes back to win the fight. what a quick takedown and what a slick guillotine!! he almost always goes for the armbar from side control. i bet that's what tim was expecting. beautiful!! nogueira is the champ and he challenges randy couture to come back and fight him. i've heard werdum is next, though...

too aggressive and too close to be vulnerable as well.
i liked Brock's effort though.
i think this next prize is based on a few events, so i'm confident you'll pull a nogueira, lbc.
congrats to ceg once again! dominating the fight league! she called the eastman martin decision too, if i recall correctly. i'm going to have to start believing in those decision predictions!
good to see a few of the pre-lims. boetsch looked suprisingly good on a few days notice, chris lytle looked overwhelming in his fight, and for some reason nakamura decided to stand and trade with rob emerson for the entire fight. i thought he'd be going for the takedowns starting in round one. aside from the knee, it was basically a boxing match. damn, i wanted to get some points on that one!
overall, though, i must say i was pleasantly surprised by this show. i think maybe it was because my expectations were low. it turned out to be a good one...especially with the nogueira win!!!

Just got in from the bar and I thought the card turned out pretty good. I didn't do too well on my picks, yet again lol. But on the bright side I was entertained for the whole card.
I thought Brock was pretty good, he did what i thought he would do and really showed his power and wrestling skills. But then Mir did what i was afraid of and caught Brock in a bad spot and capitalized. Still, with some more training and mainly experience, he really could be a force.
Nog was awsome! I really thought Tim was going to drag this fight out and get another decision, but then nog comes from way behind and catches Tim in the choke, amazing.
Anyways, it was a good night of beer and fights so i'm off to bed. Congrats on the win, and very good picks by all of you.

good to hear it was a good night. i'm still in shock about the finish to the nogueira sylvia fight! awesome is right.
as gsp would say, "don't let this loss put you down. come back man. " it seems ceg is intending to hang on to that title!
Hey everybody!! I'm back from ice fishing! great trip... the weather was beautiful... the fish were biting a bit.... i caught 2 perch and one decent sized pickerel.... i also caught a bit of a hangover, and very little sleep...
The Wintersleep show was very good, as always... a bit of a different vibe this time though... the crowd was bigger than ever, and i missed that real band/crowd connection we were getting with the smaller shows... still fantastic though.... i have a feeling these boys are going to be making it quite big in the next while....
So.... WOW! sounds like it was a good UFC show afterall! Am I ever suprised by the results of the Fantasy League!! hahahha.... i never would have expected to beat out mookie on this one... i ended up 8/9 on the winners... not too shabby...
and oh. btw.....
we're going to MONTREAL!!! I'm looking at our ticket order confirmation right now..... Section 119, row T. Not quite where we wanted to be, but it was hard to find just the right seats, when they don't tell you which sections are which prices... i should have called on the phone.... oh well.... like mookie said, as long as we're in the building!!! and we are!

UFC 83 press conference will air live at 10 a.m eastern on all four sportsnet networks in canada and will also be streamed online for those who may be interested and away from a tv at that time.
A press conference that takes place tomorrow to in Montreal to announce UFC 83 will be available to watch online.
The press conference, which takes place at Montreal’s Bell Centre, includes UFC President Dana White, as well Georges St. Pierre and Matt Serra. UFC welterweight champion Serra will meet interim champ (and French-Canadian) St. Pierre in a title unification bout at UFC 83. The trio will officially announce the event’s April 19 date and Montreal location during tomorrow’s event.
The press conference, which takes place at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT, will be streamed online and available for free at Yahoo! Sports and UFC.com.
In addition to the press conference, Serra and St. Pierre will take part in an autograph signing from 1-3 p.m. local time.
Tickets to UFC 83 are currently available as a pres-sale to UFC fan-club members, and the tickets go on sale the general public later this week. However, fans attending the autograph signing can also purchase tickets during the two-hour event during a special two-hour pre-sale.
UFC 83 will be the first-ever event in Canada for the Las Vegas-based fight organization. The UFC announced its intentions of holding two previous events in the country, but plans for the shows were eventually scrapped due to scheduling conflicts.
In addition to St. Pierre vs. Serra, UFC 83 is expected to include Rich Franklin vs. Travis Lutter, Michael Bisping vs. Charles McCarthy, Marc Bocek vs. Mac Danzig, Joe Doerksen vs. Jason MacDonald, and more.
just watched the press conference for ufc 83 on sportsnet. they said patrick cote will be on the card after all!
apparently, fight club memberships in canada have been selling at a very high rate recently, especially in ontario and quebec. 13,000 tickets have already been sold through the pre-sale to fight club members in less than 24 hours. so i guess it's a good thing we joined the fight club, because there's not going to be much left when the public ticket sales start.
looks like ufc 83 will be the biggest mma show ever held in north america, in terms of attendance. it's a great opportunity for some of the canadian fighters to get some press here at home.
patrick cote back on the card, and demian maia will be in montreal! apparently dong hyun kim will be making his debut later than rumoured, but cote and maia make up for that, i guess 10 fights on this card as well...
UFC 83 TIX GO FAST, FULL CARD ANNOUNCED
Monday, February 04, 2008
by Ken Pishna & Damon Martin - MMAWeekly.com
The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Monday held a press conference in Montreal to discuss its upcoming Canadian debut on April 19.
Georges St. Pierre and Matt Serra were on hand to help pump up their welterweight title bout, but from the news that UFC president Dana White delivered, they didn’t really need to be there.
Tickets don’t even go on sale to the general public until Thursday of this week, but according to White, UFC Fight Club members (the only ones to whom tickets are currently available) have already purchased more than 13,000 tickets for UFC 83, which is set to take place at the 21,273-seat Bell Centre.
“13,375 tickets, in that ballpark,” said White of the total ticket sales thus far.
Serra defeated St. Pierre at UFC 69 in Houston, Texas to capture the UFC welterweight title. He was scheduled to defend that belt against Matt Hughes on Dec. 29 in Las Vegas, but had to withdraw due to an injury. St. Pierre stepped up to take his place and ended up defeating Hughes to capture the interim welterweight strap.
The UFC on Monday also announced the rest of the bouts for the April 19 event, minus one opponent. It is a full fight card with 10 bouts scheduled:
-Georges St. Pierre vs. Matt Serra
-Rich Franklin vs. Travis Lutter
-Michael Bisping vs. Charles McCarthy
-Kalib Starnes vs. Nate Quarry
-Jason MacDonald vs. Joe Doerksen
-Mac Danzig vs. Mark Bocek
-Sam Stout vs. Rich Clementi
-Kuniyoshi Hironaka vs. Jonathan Goulet
-Ed Herman vs. Demian Maia
-Patrick Cote vs. TBA (Alan Belcher or Anthony Rees)
Mookie...before you get too excited about tickets...have you seen what they are charging...err gauging us for???
My roomie looked it up after the ppv on Saturday night cause we wanted to make the trip...dude.. $550 for the closest seats!!!!!!! I know its Canadian but Canadian dollar and US are at par right now...its the same thing.
The ppv in Dec was only $350. INSANE!!!!!! Fuck that shit I'm staying home.
If you want something like reasonable...like $150 or less you are looking at seats above the press area which are so high you won't see anything.
My roomie is afraid of heights so thats out of the question for me.
Add those onto the price of hotel...and Montreal can be pretty expensive for hotels too and yer looking at over a grand.
I wanna see that match live so bad...but I just don't have that kind of bank roll.
If you guys do...then have fun and tell us all about it when u get back.

yep, already excited, meaning we already got the tickets. yeah, the high end 550$ seats are higher than normal...i think columbus is 400$ for floor and there is a lot more "star power" on that card. the lower bowl is comparable, though, between 200-300$, i think. we're sitting a little over three quarters of the way up the lower bowl, so the view should be good. high enough to see into the cage and to watch the big screens easily. i wouldn't want to be sitting too low, pay too much, and not be able to see anything!
the real steal of a deal right now is the UFC fight night in colorado. only 250$ for floor tickets to one of the most talent laden cards they've ever held! it would be nice to live nearby...:D
still, a lot of my personal faves are on the montreal card (a couple more that got moved would be nice...evan tanner and thiago alves specifically ) so i don't mind paying a couple of bills to see this show. should be a good time in montreal...first event in canada and the largest in north america for mma...should be insane, especially for GSP! they go crazy enough for TKO shows in quebec, i can only imagine what it will be like for this!
i'm sorry about the rommate with the height issues. that sucks. :( we'll let you know how it goes. i'm sure we'll have some pics and a few tales.
if i win the lottery before april, everyone in the thread is invited!

I'll be praying that one of us wins the lotto so I can go haha.

WOOHOO i got tickets to montreal!!!
My buddy at work called his wife and she got us tickets tonite, i'm not positive which section or anything (she is e-mailing me the reciept in the am). They are the $200 tickets (green's i believe) and said something about section 302 or 304 (not really positive till the morning), but she was checking everything available and got the best ones we could in that price range. I've just been excited since my buddy came up to me and told me she confirmed it. Got 6 in a row, so maybe a PJ meet up could be arranged. We are going down on the Friday and staying at the Holiday Inn (i think) near the bell center until sunday.

congrats on getting tickets, leafs4ever! it doesn't sound like there's much left.
i have the same agenda, with a stop at the art gallery at some point so i'm sure we'll all work out a place and time to meet up. la rue st-catherine's, peut-être?
Great weekend in LV. GSP was really down to earth during the Fight Club Q&A. A true gentleman . Highlights : he'd look forward to meeting Anderson Silva at mw even though he walks around at 187 and would be a small mw; no flukes in MMA , Serra was simply better at 69 ; and there are great clubs , including strip clubs, in Montreal.
As for the fights , i enjoyed Tim Boetschs's throwdown of David Heath; Big Dog Almeidas submission ; Light's Out Lytle 's use of his boxing background to devastating advantage; Big Nog's resilience and stick to it-iveness in getting Sylvia where he obviously didn't want to be ( the ground) ; and Mir taking advantage of Lesnar's inexperience.
Looking forward to Columbus...a cheap date as I've a brother there ... and Montre-OUCH!! My wallet is still smoking from the pain and abuse.

JSB ? you mean the jimmy swift band, accbotleggoddess?
i know what you mean.
lotto wins for all of us!
congrats on getting tickets, leafs4ever! it doesn't sound like there's much left.
i have the same agenda, with a stop at the art gallery at some point so i'm sure we'll all work out a place and time to meet up. la rue st-catherine's, peut-être?
As for the fights , i enjoyed Tim Boetschs's throwdown of David Heath; Big Dog Almeidas submission ; Light's Out Lytle 's use of his boxing background to devastating advantage; Big Nog's resilience and stick to it-iveness in getting Sylvia where he obviously didn't want to be ( the ground) ; and Mir taking advantage of Lesnar's inexperience.
Looking forward to Columbus...a cheap date as I've a brother there ... and Montre-OUCH!! My wallet is still smoking from the pain and abuse.
