Wow this thread is a blast from the past....back to about 6th or 7th grade...
16stone was the first CD I ever bought. I had some cassette albums (yes, PJ was in that group -- but I wanted something I didn't have), but for some reason it seemed like a huge deal to have saved up my money for a stereo and then to buy a CD for it.
I liked that album and still like a few songs from it...Everything Zen, Comedown, Machine Head, Testosterone, Glycerine. I got Razorblade Suitcase when it came out, but was fairly disappointed with it. I still have both of those albums, but it's probably been 8 years or so since I've listened to either. After Razorblade, I stopped following them and stopped buying their albums...
these guys were undeniably the best at completely gibberish lyrics... they put dr seuess to shame.
"mickey mouse has grown up a cow"
what the fuck does that mean?
I always thought it could have been some kind of pun on Mickey Mouse becoming sacred or idolized or something like a cow in India. Perhaps I am giving the lads too much credit for the depth of their lyrics, though.
"You're an alien......I'm an alien.......its a beautiful rain....beautiful rain...."
Certainly Rossdale is the worst lyricist of the 90s.
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
Certainly Rossdale is the worst lyricist of the 90s.
i won't argue that. but then, a good chunk of rock music isn't exactly poetry. i never could figure out what a single nirvana song was supposed to mean.
bush was among the worst ever though, no doubt. they were fun though.
I still like this song, probably the only one of the Bush songs that get played on the radio that I don't flip the station.
I actually heard it this morning
In Canada, they were called Bush X
I remember them being called Bush X here... I bought "sixteen stone" though while I was in the USA( I have NO idea why I remember that ) so it just said Bush. Oh yeah I am cool
They have like three good songs but after that... meh but man I used to think Gavin was all that and a bag of chips

when i was in junior high i used to tell my friend that bush was WAY better than some old fart's band like his fav group: the beatles
"blood is like wine, unconscious all the time" Eh?
Minus points for having a singer called Gavin.
"Glycerine, don't let the days go by, Glycerine/" Glycerine?
Their popularity wasn't only due to american girls salaciously drooling over the singer. Sixteen Stone wasn't so bad at all, I preferred it to most britpop I heard at the time, but, as kinda made clear, lyrics that kad meaning would have taken them further.

apparently, 07162056 is THE date...
definitely. I think that was the main reason I liked them back in the 90s.
