How could this be?
She told my wife that she already has three kids. So then how could you not know the feeling of being pregnant?
She is a big girl so I guess that hides it but really, come on...how could this be?

I don't know about 8 months but a freind of mine told me that his mother didn't know she was pregnant with him for months and months, she assumed she was gaining weight. I don't remember how many months til she realized it.

Ive read a few articles about this sort of thing, though dont know if any of them had any previous pregnancies...
ive got two kids so buggered if I know how the hell she didnt know!!!

Even if you dont get morning sickness, theres still breat tenderness, weeing all the time, sore back/tummy etc.
I know if the placenta is lying across the front side of the tummy then alot of the kicks arent felt....

You're not old enough to be impregnating anyone you dirty hoodlum. At least not in a covert way so as she might not find out til she pops the kid out at t-minus zero.

    ;)

Like I said, sometimes the placement of the placenta can stop alot of the kicks being felt...but surely not ALL of them

What a shock to the poor woman though!!!

Sometimes, depending on the location of the placenta, kicks/movement can't be felt. If this woman was already overweight, then she might have already been having irregular periods and/or other health issues that would mask the symptoms.

A family friend of mine basically didn't know she was pregnant until she was in labor. You hear about this once in a while. (And it almost always leads to a huge debate on here...lol.)

    How could this be?

    1. Irregular periods
    2. No periods
    3. Spotting during pregnancy mistaken for a period
    4. Trusting birth control & thinking you couldn't be pregnant
    5. Lack of education
    6. Denial
    7. Lack of access to a pregnancy test
    8. Already being overweight
    9. Not gaining very much weight
    10. Mistaking syptoms for menstrual issues
    11. Mistaking kicking for gas
    12. Lack of symptoms or kicking

It's kind of funny, but one of my close friends moved away to Virginia a year or so ago. We lost touch for a couple of months and when I found her again, she had had a baby. I couldn't understand how this could be, as she hadn't gotten in touch with anyone about being pregnant from home. This was very unlike her.

As it turns out, she had no idea she was pregnant. She didn't find out until she was six months pregnant. Then at 7 months, she had the baby. She gained only a few pounds and looked no different after having the baby. The baby was perfectly healthy and cute, and luckily for her, she didn't do anything harmful like drinking during pregnancy.

Sure was a lot to get adjusted to afterwards though... But she is happy to be a mom. What a surprise!

  • I actually know 2 people this happened to... One already had three kids and didn't realise, went to hospital with stomach pains and popped out a sproglet. The other was 17 and in the army. She was slim, fit and had absolutely no idea she was pregnant til she dropped her groin spawn when she came back from infantry training in Africa. It can and does happen.

obviously it does. doesnt make it any less amusing to, at least, those of us who've actually popped out a sproglet. :p:D

Oh no I agree! When I found out about my friend giving birth to an unknown baby when she already had 3 groin spawn, I was highly amused!
That was aimed more towards those asking "what, how, when?! I don't believe it..."

Well I don't have children and don't find it that hard to comprehend at all... that could be why actually, i've not actually experienced it myself. Maybe one day I'll be ready to pop out my own spoglet and sit there and say "hang on a darn minute... how do people NOT know this is happening to them?!"

    lol :)
