What do you all drink?
I stay away from soda and anything with a lot of sugar. I bought the crystal lite packs that you pour into a bottle of water but I now see that it has aspertane in it. That stuff is bad bad news.
Do any of you know what non-sugar sweeteners are okay?
I have been drinking only water, but sometimes I need something with flavor.

they say raw sugar is good/healthy - Sugar in the Raw is the brand name.
The white sugar and aspartame is what is bad.
They also say to use Mollasses - I've never tried, so don't hold me to it.

i mostly drink water (if it not alcohol) but when it comes to sugar, I would just rather use the REAL Thing. It's not like I am eating a cup at a time so why would you not just use the real thing? (same with butter vs. margarine)
So I'll just lie down and wait for the dream
Where I'm not ugly and you're lookin' at me
  • yeah most of them are not good. I stay away from sugah except for my coffee, ice cream and the odd piece of chocolate.

I would stay with the water, thats usually all I drink, however, you can flavour your water with a lot of things. I like putting rosehips in my waterbottle in the summer time, cloves is nice too, mint leaves, etc.
There are many things one can do to flavour delicious water.

I at one time was concerned about aspartame, the american cancer society has done some intensive studies that determine it's much less of an issue than is reported on the internet for most people. If you're a phenylketonuric it's a big problem... so unless you are you're probably ok unless you are drinking the equivalent of 50 nutrasweet drinks a day.

Splenda contains no aspartame. It's essentially a substance made from sugar that your body dosen't digest... so it's ok too. I think even for diabetics.

Real cane sugar is not too bad and it tastes great. I do enjoy honey as well in my tea. Molasses is good too.

Stay away from High Fructose Corn Syrup where you can and in general carbonated drinks can upset your stomach.

    Fruit Juice is really good.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

Yea I like real fruit juice but must of the stuff in the market is from concentrate. Pisses me off. It has just as much sugar as soda.

  • I have read that stevia is a good , natural sweetener. I try to steer clear of sugar substitutes. When I do have coffee I use the unrefined, brown sugar.

I need caffiene because I'm addicted and if I don't have some in the morning I will get a huge headache all day and night! I have about three or four Dr. Peppers a day! I just finished my second one a minute ago!! I need sugar. :D

But remember that even 100% "no sugar added" juices have fairly high sugar content on their nutrition label. It's not really a problem though because it's just the natural sugar in the juice. So it's kinda good for you I think.

  • i try to not drink soda either (although there will be the rare moment where i'll have a regular coke). i don't use artificial sweetners for my coffee, just a dash of real sugar, and just honey for my tea.

when i *do* want a soda type drink, i get the torani sugar-free syrup with splenda, the peach flavor is delicious, and make an italian soda. it's nice cuz you can control how strong you want it to be, just a dash of flavor or something to kick your head in :D

I thought everyone knew what inhiding looks like. Definitely not fat and definitely not a man. I'd put my life savings on it. ;)

But on the real, try switching out those Peppas with some coffee or espresso inhiding, that just ain't right.

  • As is the case with most things: All things in moderation. Raw sugar, honey and molasses are all fine. But ALL of those sugar substitutes are nothing but garbage. GARBAGE I TELL YOU!!!

  • I really just avoid high-fructose corn syrup. I usually put splenda in my coffee and I've been known to enjoy the occaissional diet coke (though much less now than I used to. I used to be addicted to it).

I can't stand Splenda or any of the other artificial stuff, so I go with the regular stuff. I stay away from soda a lot though, and only drink sweetened iced tea every couple of days, so it's not too bad.

one of the very first ingredients in Sweet - N - Low or Equal , or Twin ,

    is Dextrose.( Sugar )

people mistakenly take these as sugar "substitutes" when in reality they are only another option ( alltho alot less but still with sugar )

  • I drink a ton if diet soda. Like 6-7 cans a day. Its so bad for me with all that sweetener I know, but water alone just can do it for me. I use splenda in coffee/tea. I think it tastes the best out of the fake sugars

I lost like 30lbs I believe due to my diet coke addiction. I would still be addicted to it if I were still working somewhere with a fully-stocked diet coke fridge. people are always saying the artificial sweeteners in it make you hungrier, but I dunno, I gulped that stuff down and never wanted to eat.

You lost the weight from drinking the diet coke or once you stopped?

from drinking diet coke. it completely eliminated my appetite. that's due to the caffeine though, not the sweeteners :).

It's like sugar without the sugar. Wait a second, that can't be good for you.

yeah. When I have the taste for something I try to drink a diet sofa and most if the time I don't feel like eating anything afterwards. Its sorta like having a snack. Fake sugar may be bad but my diet seems to work better with a diet coke as a snack instead of a bag of chips.

I used to drink diet coke for meals...

...and I wonder why I'm not that thin anymore...

I bet you are a whole lot healthier now. Thin or slim? They are two different things.
