After 17 some-odd years in the work world, i'm in my freakin dream job:
Public Affairs, Print Publication Coordinator and Copy Editor for a Fortune 500 company. For seven months of the year, I work on one project: the Corporate Annual Report (online and print).
I get to write a bit; I harangue, err correct, all the other writers; I hire and work with photographers, designers and programmers; I get to go on boondoggles, uh, I mean press checks.
Previously I have been: a pre-press manager, a magazine editor, a typesetter AND a typographer, a database analyst, a graphic designer, a web master, a conference coordinator, a real estate analyst, a temp, and I ran my own multimedia company in 92-93 -- yap, right before the internets, sheesh!
So yes, YOU CAN DO SOMETHING with a Masters in English Lit and minors in Graphic Design and Philosophy! It was the "Certificate in Literary Editing and Publishing" that really paid off! Plus a summer of Desktop Publishing intensive training in '87. (Yes, I have Pagemaker 1.0 and Photoshop Beta 0.9 sitting on floppy disks next to my MacSE stored in the garage!)

There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.
Architect in training! I need to take my licensing exam, but i have 6 years of experience. I am about to take my LEED exam, which is to become an accredited professional that has the knowledge to design sustainable buildings. I think Pearl Jam would be proud.

I work in design and prepress for a custom media and publishing company. I'm also part of a committee to get the company Green, with goals of being leaders in our industry.
I studied painting/sculpture/photography in college.
Then I became an Apple computer technician for a few years.
I went back to school and became a Chef/Pastry Chef. My longest career ever.
I am a chemist for a company in Mississippi and I am working on my Ph.D. in Electrochemistry.
Are you working with electrochemistry now? Is your job in research? I'm graduating soon (i hope) with a masters in inorganic chemistry. No idea what I want to do next, but I'm pretty sick of research.
