I can't tell you how many times people have told me what an awesome guy I am, and how much they like me as a friend. Yes, it does make you want to stab them in the eye with a rusty fork, but at the same time, I couldn't be any other way. I've vowed on several occasions to become a bastard to further my romances, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. :p

And I think that's a good compliment. Depends on if you like the thought of marriage or not. ;)

there are a lot of girls out here who really do like the "nice guys". I always have and always will. Sometimes when we say we like you just as a friend it is b/c an attraction isn't there - it is not because you are nice ;) no one can help who they are and are not attracted to! i wish we could!!!

Nice is all I know. I never could be a nasty/bad guy even if you payed me.

That's what I get for having two older sisters. lol

Strangely, the 'nasty/bad' guy (well tbh, he wasn't 'nasty' as such he just made some bad decisions) I was with last and the genuinely nasty guy I was with before him BOTH had 2 older sisters...

as does my current boyfriend, who happens to be very nice...

Oh me too... absolutely. In my younger shallower days, I used to go for nasty cos ya think life will be more interesting... but no, life tends to simply be about them. Then I grew up :) and life is MUCH better!

In saying that... it's not just men who get the 'nice guy' speech... I've got that in the past... best example was one of the sites I worked on, one of the girls in the canteen was stunningly gorgeous but she was quite the bitch to the lads... so I got told quite often that I was the 'nicest' girl on the site  even though there was only about 5 of us, lol. But that was supposed to mean something to me :D I got the impression the lads thought that 'naturally' I would feel inferior to her... even though I've always been able to see things as they are... and I got on really well with her too! Hmm... I dunno where I'm going with this and I've forgotten my point so I'll stop, lol.

no, I see what you're saying... being 'nice' and approachable can often be more attractive than looks or surface impression. Because you got on with everyone and were on a level with the guys they found you to be 'nicer' for want of a better word.

yeh, but there was just something funny about their need to say it. I got on great with her but she WAS a bitch to the lads so I knew that I was nicer... I also knew this was their 'nice' way of telling me that she was much hotter... which I also knew :D but I appreciated their noticing that I had qualities too.

ah but men will never understand women's inferiority complexes (or lack there of) and vice versa....

It was nice of them though, I agree :)

:D well I think they often presumed that cos I'd be out smoking with them while they're talking about her, that maybe I DID feel inferior... but I never did. I wasn't working there for attention or to find men :D but, while some people would take the 'nice' thing as an insult... I always took it as a compliment.

It's not so much that, just the implication behind what she said, in that of all her friends, I was the only one she could see having a actual meaningful relationship. It's just a shame that two of my friends that I really liked never had the same appreciation :)
