  • Fuck those guys. With those types of people, it doesn't matter if you just lifted a car off of them and magically healed their broken arm. They'll look at you and get pissed that you scratched their car in the process. Then you drop the car back on them and shut em up.

Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

every other annoying customer is quite easy to handle but there's this one guy.. he's not Finnish so we speak English. but every week or so he comes in and asks for I Am Legend, the movie with Will Smith. right, it's not on DVD yet (at least not here) and I don't know when it will be.

so I tell the guy this.

and he says "it's a good movie. I demand to see it."
I say "it's not on DVD yet so there's no way of us getting it at this point."
"it's a good movie. with Will Smith."
"I'm not saying it isn't. we just don't have it yet and I don't know when we will. let me check our website." I'll check the site and the film isn't on upcoming movies yet so it's impossible to know when we'll get it. "it's not on the site yet, I don't know how long it'll be.."
"ok, I'll come in a few weeks and I demand to see it."
"ok, you can do that but I really don't know when it's gonna be released."

THat is unfortunate that you put up with that. I have worked jobs in the past that many folks would point their nose up to because they were better but at the time it was what i had and could do.

Good for you for enjoying your work and being able to make ends meet. That is all that matters.

A lot of the folks at the video rental place i go to are nice and friendly and can usually offer advice on movies and don't mind doing that either.

speaking of Clerks, the director Kevin Smith, along with other 90's directors like Quentin Tarantino and Paul Thomas Anderson ACTUALLY got into directing movies based on their experiences as video rental workers. They didn't go to film school or anything. Well, I think Anderson did but he dropped out.

So I'm sure these three guys are laughing their way to the bank now.

with that said, I hate when people judge others on their occupation. As a kid, i thought plumbers and trashmen have shitty jobs but i realize they make a pretty good living, especially plumbers. Just called a plumber to fix my sink and draining pipes, I paid the $200 for an hour of work.

"kill 'em with kindness" huh that's what every retail manager i had told me that. somehow i always find my way to get fired. ;)

back to the rental subject. i went into th movie rental the other day. grabbed two movies because it was in my membership contract that i can grab two movies at time without extra cost. Anyways, I give the clerk my reciept of my membership. he gave me a "what the fuck" look and said, "what's this?" i replied "my membership" and he said "no, it's just a receipt. where's your card?"

then i had to sign up for a card too. the clerk was being a jackass though because he was the one who signed me up for the premium membership and didn't give me a store membership.

Just keep flicking rubber bands at him. It might not do much to help but it's always fun.

I have learned never to underestimate people, however calm and composed they normally seem :) for all I know you could be a vigilante superhero by night ;)
