yep, for me the greatest actor of them all. In a way De Nero & Pacino trade partly from the glamour of the roles they perform, as in someone every dumb fuck wants to be.

Even better is the way Robert Carlisle says that line :D He's just amazing in that film. When Spud goes to jail and they're having a wee dram in the pub and Begbie says "It was fucking obvious that cunt was gonna fuck some cunt one day" it's just the most perfectly hilarious line :p

As for the others, I have been recommended In the Name of the Father too many times, for too long on this board, thanks to Helen mainly. I bought it online last night. Should arrive soon. Can't wait. Daniel Day-Lewis is fantastic and I'm very interested in anything related to the irish troubles.

Did you ever hear about Day-Lewis' last performance on stage? He was in a production of Hamlet in the late 80s/early 90s and during one performance he collapsed to the ground and started crying and then had to be taken off stage. He said afterwards that he saw his, not Hamlet's, father's ghost. He hasn't been on stage since

Begbie is a memorable character, you have to love him!! or.. hate him really!! :D
I hope all those recommendations doesn't ruin the movie for you, sometimes when I am told about a GREAT movie so many times I end up disappointed!
and that Dany Day Lewis story, I had never heard that, but it is tottaly believable... he is so intense!! :o

    Anyone mentioned Christian Bale?
From the black, comic satire of American Psycho. To the sci-fi action of Equilibrium. To the dark & harrowing Machinist. To blockuster Batman Begins.
    This guy does it all.

    PS:
Does Chevvy Chase count as an actor?! Funny as hell though!!!
