What a desperate appointment!
Yes he's been successful,..on the continent, with continental players...not English players..apart from when he took over at Real Madrid...and promptly dropped David Beckham..the only English player there!
Look forward to 4 more years of media frenzy....
I came, I saw, I concurred.....

    It's hilarious,he's a good coach......but fuck me, £6.5m a year for a part time job?
Nobody in their right mind would turn that down, even though the english press will be on his back from tomorrow til the day he quits/is fired.

Thank god, someone else has an opinion.
I reckon it's a bloody farce, 6.5 M, fuck of course he's gonna take it...even though he's never had any time, respect or ever rated any English players..!
I've said before, I don't hate England, I get behind them..but the dilussion in the country about the football teams importance is quite incredible..I heard Mike Parry from TalkSport radio earlier...he opitomses it ! It's quite disturbing really, they'll all be convinced now that world football is quaking in it's boots..but it's not, England will be no better by and large whoever is in charge of picking the team...it's still gonna be the same players.

he'll make a difference i think... in so much as that England couldnt get much lower could they? they were playing shite, their FA is so antiquated that David Dickinson will try and flog it.. they need an overhaul.. maybe he'll do some good, maybe not.. but i would say thats Beckham's 100th cap fucked :D
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    Ugh.

I wish you guy the best of luck, but from a personal standpoint I find him worthless and despicable.
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

Well, from that picture on the front of the paper the other day in just his under pants, I think Dave has already got his 100th, 101st, and a commemorative scroll.

  • He's got a nice long holiday before he starts too... I'll be cheering for Switzerland anyway
  • England needs a good manager who will pick a "team" and can mold a team to play with any semblance of unity. This could be a good appointment.

The world would have to be scared if the FA got out of the way and had a good manager. Whether or not this will happen is debatable. The talent is there, just not the management and direction.
    9/7/98, 8/3/00, 9/4/00, 4/15/03, 7/1/03, 9/28/04, 9/29/04, 5/24/06, 5/25/06, 6/17/08, 6/22/08, 6/28/08, 6/30/08, 5/17/10, 10/15/13, 10/16/13.

Sorry, don't agree. The talent is not there, not in the capacity it should be.
And as for management and direction...well, you can't polish a turd!

A desperate appointment it is but he's the best they could of found. I think it's only till after the next world cup and then he'll go with his 6million. One of the problems is english managers struggle to get a leg up in managerial stakes, clubs hav'nt the time to give, and their overall demeanor seems to lack an air of authority. Look at Southgate, I've nothing against the guy but he seems weak, could'nt see him dishing out a bollockin'. The same could be said for Curbishley, Coppell et al. Whereas say.....Moyes, he makes the right impression with me.

Nobody clamouring for O'Neill seemed to make reference to the fact he's not english.

i think the talent is there, maybe not up to the standard of some of the other top teams but they should be doing better than what they have been. hopefully he'll crack the whip & somehow get them to sort their shit out. i don't know, guess i'm an optimist, but i think he can do it. as dunk said, they can't get any worse can they?

God forbid it doesn't go right in Croatia and, he's gonna get strung up man. Those journos are sharpening their pencils as we type. And with a poxy result like that against the waiters tonight, they'll be shitting bricks by Wednesday....and ol Bilic (great Pearl Jam fan as he is :) ) will be rubbing his over sized hands :)

i want Croatia to win... not for football reasons but simply because of this hatred i have towards Englands divine right to be a football superpower. they are woeful.

ok Scotland got beat... i'm not bitter... but we have a 10th of the population and yet we're one place below them on Fifa rankings :):)

I understand. I have this strange standpoint, I get behind them when the tournament comes around but am eventually offended by their 'reverse racism', when they do well they don't want to share any success. Thus, when they struggle, I take a smug joy in it.

i have this strange standpoint also... i fucking loathe them and take delight in their failure. :D

ok they won, but it was as convincing as that time Daley Thompson took on a disabled cancer victim at table tennis and let him win.

it's a poor show.....on talksport this morning they were talking, as they do :o, and they were on about the betting for the game tonight..."I'm going for 5-0" "Oh, well I'm going for 7-0, it's better odds, not bad 5/1 or something.." fuckers!! hahahahahah!

yeah 2-0 away against a country of about 75000 people is utter shit... there are 75,000 people in my county.

you're in a minority. England fans think they should win every game.

losing to Andorra weasnt going to happen, ut winning 2-0 IN STYLE would be ok... but they laboured that result.

  • Come on Ireland!!!!

If England won 6-0 it wouldn't make a difference, the press is just always negative.

Honestly I think the media make you think England fans think that ... but everyone I know always thinks we'll manage to fuck it up somehow ... we were talking at work on Friday about it would be like us to manage to lose this one and no one I know expects us to win against Croatia we're all worrying about how badly we'll lose.

People like to hate England and England fans and we just get used to that.
