    On the verge..

20 year career maybe going down the drain.

4 good friends lost their jobs yesterday and my dept may be closed or taken down to minimum people.

Well here I am! Not lost a job but as a freelancer the work is drying up, companies aren't spending and one of the first thing they stop is advertising, literature etc.

October is normally my busiest month of the year but at the moment there's fuck all. Why do you think I'm on here? :)

This has happened to 3 other friends in the same business, I've just been into my local town and 2 shops have closed down. It was so quiet there I was expecting to see tumble weed. And this was at lunch time.

I could be losing my job. My famlies small business is having trouble getting a line of credit from a bank we've been a customer of for years. Need the line for inventory and for payroll.

It's going to be close the next few weeks.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

My firm's share price dropped about 70% a few weeks ago and we were an acquisition target before some drastic actions. Hoping things stabalize soon.

Yes. Not me (yet), but my sister-in-law got her benefits taken away and they cut her from full time to part time, then her company let go a bunch of other people. She may be next. :(
Also, one of my friends got let go earlier this summer and hasn't been able to find a job since.

Idaho state government has already announced one hold back and more are on the way. State employees will be laid off soon. The last time this happened back in 2001 - 2003, I was the Reduction in Force Project Manager for every state agency in Idaho. I got to deal with every single person the state laid off and there were tons. Good times...

If it isn't affecting you, count your blessings.

I think its a little too early to tell. I work for a heating and AC company and we have been suffering because of the housing marking because most of our sales go to residential new construction. But we haven't had any layoffs and budgeting is going on as normal for next year so who knows?

I lost my job cos of this... my sisters husband also lost his. I worked in construction so I know way too many people to even begin listing. It was good for me cos I'd been hoping for redundancy... but if anyone has a mortgage or a family to support I really feel sorry for them :(

Ah yes, the public sector employees... the benefits are there for all to see.

I don't know anyone who is friendly with accountants. They speak with forked tongue and in a strange lingo and normally can't add up.

Vets as in veterinarians? As in a medical professional who takes care of DOGS? How do you know such a person?

get who protection? small firms? yeah, they've just announced more liquidity for small firms... not protection... small firms will still go bust just as they did before this crunch, if they are not run properly...

    interest rates will help also...

but aye, a lot of firms are in the shit... and lets hope these announcements today help them out... 2 tight-fisted scottish bastards trying to sort it out is the best we've got!! :D

By 'protection' I mean the original definition.. not the latest definition :D

'Protection' doesn't always mean bailing someone out with hundreds of billions of whatever currency you use :D
