vs and vitalogy are 2 and 3 of their highest selling albums and they are the bands best. if you consider vitalogy one of their worst albums.... well you would just flat out suck.
no, though they turned me onto aerosmith and the police in utero, i didnt have much choice then but my mom had a habit of leaving the radio station on our local rock station and thats how i found soundgarden, pearl jam, aic, etc... then as i got older i discovered other bands. my parents even made fun of me saying how instead of going forward in time with music i was going backwards
Unfortunately I'm one of the idiots who let their memberships lapsed. :(
That should be a lesson for all 10C youngins' out there. Though, I thought they don't do seniority seatings anymore?
...18th row was my best PJ seats thus far. I did have better luck with Eddie's solo shows though.
mine expires soon. i cant decide if i wanna renew or not. i have a decent number (187XXX) but unless they take away seniority seating, i'd rather take my chances with TM. give me poor seats on the side. i hate being on the floor. one tall dude and you see nothing. and there is NO room in those folding chairs. how are you supposed to rock out?
anyone that complained about this show should be sent my way. i was sober for this show and it might be one of the single best decisions i ever made. catapulted me from pearl jam fanatic to pearl jam addict
i was totally blacked out that night and the next (grand rapids). but i remember enjoying grand rapids more.
north chicago? how do we have 2 brand new chicago posters in this thread? i hope at least one is an old friend.
now hey wait a minute, i may be 19 but i've been trying to listen to other people besides what pearl jam tells me to! first off i gotta listen to other bands i liked from the 90s (ie: soundgarden, AIC, live, tool) then i gotta listen to other bands that i like in the 70s (ie: led zeppelin, the who, the clash, the ramones [lotta english "the" bands ]), and 60s bands like the doors, the beatles (just picked up a john lennon LP today:)) and thats just rock music! i also listen to classical, jazz, pop (some...), R&B... it's hard trying to keep up with all these bands' music, discover new music, while trying to go to school and hold down a job
I think you might have taken on too much, my young friend Pick only a couple per month/year and dig deep/deeper...or at least that's what I do. There's at least a few new/old artists that i make note of each year and make an effort to dig in hard. Being scattered and knowing only a little of a lot doesn't pay you as much return satisfaction, imo, especially when you could find some really great ones, that you especially love/enjoy, and get to know them really well. This is goes especially for bands that are touring today that you like/love. ie) Tool, PJ etc
Not saying to not hear it all cause the real beauty of music is that it is more than just the here and now and some past genres. It's all encompassing and way overwhelming...you can easily be lead down the path that matters least to you, just cause you might think there's something there, when there isn't.
hint...go hard first with the music that gives you the goosebumps

would have been better if they'd played 'do you feel like we do' and let frampton bust out the talk box! poor guy got shafted on that stage, and ed's voice would have kicked ass on it. you know mike would've tore some shit up too.
Actually this is just more of a stereotype of the forum members.......but these are just things I have noticed (oddly, I do not fit hardly any of these)
You must love Neil Young
You must love Pearl Jam opening acts (My Morning Jacket, Deathcab For Cutie, Wilco, Liam Finn, Wintersleep, etc)
You must be middle - upper class
You must travel all over the US to see PJ live
You must be liberal
You must see PJ every chance you get to, every night if they are playing multiple nights at the same venue
You do not think Ten is their best album, in fact you probably think it is one of their worst along with the rest of their best selling records
I might as well compare myself to the stereotypes that I made up.....
I like Neil Young.......I am not a huge fan of his voice but his lyrics and music make up for it. I however am not into everything he has done, I made my own best of for him and that is all I need to listen to.
Cant stand their opening acts
I might be considered middle class but I would be lower class if I didnt live with my parents because I would not be able to pay my bills
Never traveled over 45 minutes to see PJ
I am liberal......not as much as some fans though (I get sick of preaching at concerts, just play the damn music)
I would see PJ or Eddie every time I could if I could afford it
Ten is my favorite album, followed closely by Vs, Pearl Jam, and Yield

Good for you kid! If you make it to Left Coast for the next tour, try to make it to wishlist parties. I'd like to buy you a non-alcoholic beverage of your choice
Oh and anyone who disses Vitalogy or Vs. is either high out of their mind or just plain dumbass. I don't particularly care for Riot Act or Binaural but at least I recognize the fact that these albums too are product of this band we adore so much and months of work went into them not to mention except for a few, most of the songs from these albums rock live. Maybe that was it. Songs on these albums just didn't do it for me. But then when I heard them live it was a whole different story. Ah shit, just thinking about Can't keep from Hartford this year is enough to get me going! So anyway don't you fucking diss Vitalogy or Vs. was my original point
i wish i could go to the west coast, but sadly this last tour (and seeing live and collective soul, yay!) drained my bank account :( i mean.. i SHOULD have a student loan coming in the mail soon... and my 11th grade history teacher, being nosy, took my headphones and put them on to see what i was listening to and, recognizing it as Vs, said "their only good cd was that pink one", and said that ed sounds like he hit his toe with a hammer. so i guess you can say he hates Vs. i give you full permission to hurt him
Actually this is just more of a stereotype of the forum members.......but these are just things I have noticed (oddly, I do not fit hardly any of these)

I'm too lazy to read 6 pages, so this might have been mentioned...
you forgot the no pearl jam shirts at a pearl jam show rule...lmao
and the you must have a very strong opinon of sleater kinney.
for the record
I wear Pearl Jam shirts at Pearl Jam shows,
and i'm not crazy about SK.

Who da fuck cares?! I've been following this band since the first time I saw the video about that Texas boy on MTV back in the day. Just because some punk has one of these doesn't make'em a better fan than any of us.
Just appreciate the music that's all you need. My copies of Vitalogy and Vs. are both used and strangely enough I am damn proud of that fact.
I for one, really do appreciate the sarcasm, but I'm gonna answer the questions anyway, haha!
Love Neil Young - in fact tickets for his Australian tour go on sale next Friday - I really don't think I can afford it though - eeeek! The pain. I'm sure I'll be there. I gotta sing 'The needle and the damage done' with the old man. Hoping he'll be at Big Day Out too - it's a rumour.
Couldn't really give a toss about opening acts - I'm usually at the bar fitting in as many drinks as I can so I can rock out without being too self conscious - hehe.
Middle I suppose
Never been to the US. Though I see a lot of US fans here. Those major US fans must have a lot of dosh (money). I saw them in Nijmegen in Holland too - a few got cranky pants at us because we just walked up to the start of the entry line (thinking it was the back) - my partner and I were like "sheesh, friendly peeps these US travelling PJ fans" - NOT! We just wanted to say 'hi', not steal your spot girls!!! But we would never tar all people with the same brush. I think we just came accross some territorial pissing. Or maybe they were tired. Whatever.
Yeah I'm liberal. Pretty much as liberal as they come. Live and let live I say. Peace out hippies!
Yeah, you gotta see them when you can. But I wouldn't go apeshit - I mean a girls gotta eat you know?
I love Ten. It is my favourite album and I couldn't give a shit who knows it. It's the defining album of my teenage years. I was 15 when it came out and my partner and I used to lie in a dark room and try to work out the words to each song. Black still gives me shivers. So :P
Some people who went to that Ohio VFC show and witnessed that Neil/PJ show actually complained...WTF???
Neil helped save this band and that's gotta count for something.
So, yes, you must love Neil Young. No other options.
ive always loved Neil. But in Toledo when he came onto the stage and proceeded to blow PJ off of it Neil become my fav. all time. Neil saved that show from being very mediocre.
Fav. Bands

Wilco

I missed Wilco as an opening act.
Nevermind, I know they never opened for PJ.
The only thing necessary to be a PJ fan is never to doubt that the ULTIMATE PJ collectible is Reeenk Roink.
If you have that you are golden.
There is nothing else you have to do!

That's the dumbest "rule" i've ever heard.
Another dumb PJ rule: You're just a frat boy fan if you are still into Ten and Vs.
Why...because they are the "popular" albums?
LAME!

#2 - The second rule of Ten Club is, you DO NOT talk about Ten Club.
#3 - If someone says stop, goes limp, taps out, the concert is over.
#4 - Two guys to a Concert.
#5 - One Concert at a time.
#6 - No shirts, no shoes.
#7 - Concerts will go on as long as they have to.
#8 - If this is your first night at Concert, you have to fight.
booya..
Wilco happens to be my favorite band, but clearly it has nothing to do with them opening for PJ.
