    Was in Africa. They told me due to the medicines I was required to take and the zone I was in that I was temporarily barred from giving.

    I was often "anemic." But then, they would "spin" my blood and it would come back as OK.

    I'm currently on "tattoo probation." :p

    thats really weird. im incharge of the blood drive this year at my high school and ur weight has nothing to do with it. its just u being anemic and not having enough red blood cells. u have to be at least 110 pounds so u should have been ok being 113 pounds.

    haha im incharge of it at my school too. you have to be 115 lbs here. i think the weight goes up as your age goes up. you cant be an anemic either.

    See, I don't understand! It's okay that I didn't give blood, but now I just have to fix my anemia which might be the reason for lots of my problems! :o

    be really careful.. anemia can be extremely serious.. get yourself checked out by a doctor...last month i was put in the hospital for a week with severe anemia. i had to have a transfusion and was given 4 pints of blood...(my blood count level was exactly half the normal level it should be).. next got a blood clot from the blood was put back in hospital for 5 more days and doctors inserted an titanium IVC filter in my neck to my heart that i will have for the rest of my life...~

    I work for the Red Cross, and I think that the weight requirement is either 110 or 120 lbs... I don't need to worry about that detail, so I haven't committed it to memory. The anemic thing... well, there's nothing you can do about that, other than take vitamins and diet and stuff. Some drives have centerfuges where they can spin the samples, some don't; it just depends on the site. But it's usually just temporary, and hopefully in a few weeks you can go back to donating regularly agian. And thanks for doing something good!
