Nice to salvage a point considering how awful they played. I bet a few of you were a little bit nervous!!!

To follow up on 81's comment, I bid you farewell until March.

    P.S. Jearlpam, you're still a jerk-off.

while the score was close the flyers deserve to win the game. 1st place overall and that without Pronger. next up is Ottawa and Pronger should be back. I don't know if i agree with that as i would wait until after the all-star game but won't doubt the flyers brass.

should have been a regulation win, but that turnover over the first goal sort of screwed that up. :x

This is pathetic, but all I could think of when Ovi's glove tied the game was having to hear from this guy.

It's kind of funny that they checked into a hotel for a few hours before the game. I guess it worked though.

That article about Giroux & Brierre was pretty funny. They "looked like a couple" shopping at Raymour & Flanigan.

Congrats to Homer - he deserves for putting together a team this stacked with a real salary cap in place.

Do any of you guys have word on Comcast Sportsnet being offered on Directv?

Im in the Philly area and found Comcast's "service" to be awful. I wont subscribe, but I would like to see Flyers and Phillies games (mainly Phillies tbh)

Verizon Fios tv offers it but you don't get Comcast Network. Some phils and flyers game on there but not nearly as many as Comcast Sportsnet (yes they are separate channels). not sure about DirecTv

and with Comcast being approved to overtake NBC word is they are going to try and challenge ESPN using NBC and Versus. Says NHL could make out huge in deal as they expect ESPN to try and get the NHL away from Versus. NHL contract I think is up next year.

I think you can possibly get it but they may charge you for it

Fios does have The Comcast Network on Channel 99. Just not in high-def. They always put the Sixers on CSN and Flyers on TCN if there's a conflict. Ridiculous.

I thought I heard CSN was going to DirecTV but I'm not sure. Was at a friend's house (who had directv) during a rainstorm and TV was out for hours. We just watched movies. So, the grass may not be greener...

ESPN probably just wants to have a Syd & Ovi reality show or some shit like that.

Anyone else not want the number 1 seed at the end of the year like me ?

Obviously the team is trying to win every night but the number 1 seed gets upset a lot in the playoffs

wasn't aware Verizon has it (i have comcast anyway) but without Hi-Def whats the point anyway? i'm such a high-def snob i can't stand to watch anything not in high-def anymore, especially sports.

I want #1 overall. Don't forget we lost first 2 games on the road in Boston & Chicago last year, and easily won the first 2 at home vs. Montreal. I think we split in Jersey. Home ice can be important in the playoffs.

At least it's on there. Lots of Temple games on TCN.

I think Flyers finished first overall 3 times, and went to the Finals all 3 years (75, 80, 85).

Last year the overrated Caps ran up points in a weak SE Division. (they were 1st overall right?)

  • Ok, I put some stats together. Since 1994 (the year the 1-8 seeds were adopted), here are the 1st round records of each seed:

    1 Seed: 23-9
    2 Seed: 17-15 (2's are 7-1 in last 4 years, so for a while 7's dominated 2's!)
    3 Seed: 20-12
4 Seed: 22-10 (strange how 4's tend to dominate 5's - this has to be the home ice advantage coming in)

And number of Finals appearances for each seed:
    1 Seed: 8
    2 Seed: 8
    3 Seed: 4
    4 Seed: 5
    5 Seed: 1
    6 Seed: 1
    7 Seed: 4
    8 Seed: 1

Flyers made Finals as a 3 seed in 1997 and a 7 seed in 2010. Flyers lost in 2nd round as a 1 seed in 1996, and in conf finals in 2000.

First overall would be crucial because Flyers are 3-20 in Stanley Cup Finals road games.

Make what you will out of these numbers. Bottom line is it's all pretty random.

    :problem:

1974: 1-2 (won Game 2 in OT "Bobby Clarke Scores!!!" - they openly admit they would've lost Game 7)
1975: 1-2 (won Game 6 to clinch it)
1976: 0-2 (got swept by Montreal)
1980: 0-3 (last game OT goal by Nystrom, plus offsides goal)
    1985: 0-3 (Games 3, 4 & 5 in Edmonton)
1987: 1-3 (won Game 5 to stave off elimination)
    1997: 0-2
    2010: 0-3

I think it's 13-8 at home. This is how you lose 6 straight Finals.
