Congrats man. Got one 5 years ago and I've never regretted it. No more birth control pills for the wife, no more worrying if she is late or not. Takes all the guesswork out of it.
WTF????? Are you kidding me? That is ridculous. I took my doggy Jasper in to get fixed and they put him to sleep before they sliced his unit. So let me get this straight, dogs are knocked out during this procedure but humans arent?
I was awake, but you are completely numb down there. Now, the shots to make you numb, those hurt.

shaweet lordy.
I have no kids but hope to some day and I was never against this procedure until this thread. I would demand to be knocked out personally because:
a) I dont want to have to watch some doctor stick a needle into my johnson
b) I wouldnt want to see the staff watch me cry.
c) I wouldnt want to have dreams later down the line aboot the procedure
and d) I cant think of one but its coming to me....

i stand by my statment. many, many reasons i am happy with my husband. the fact that he did this with no hesitation makes just one more. a biggie!
btw - one CAN be knocked out for the procedure. it is normally performed under a local anestheic b/c it is not deemed 'necessary' for the aptient to be under general anesthetic. it is an option which of course the patient would bear the extra expense. i think it all depends on the patient.
they HAVE to knock out a male dog simply b/c you can't TELL a dog to be still and actually expect him to be. a man you can, well most i guess.....

I wholeheartedly support Cree's reluctance... especially D. Can't they just knock a brutha out?

thanks for that
but hey if its a play for some action, then its ok.
are you serious?
WAY more 'intimate' details people have shared on here. it's a simple medical procedure. people discuss ALL sorts of medical procedures, sexual information, emotional issues, etc. this ain't nutthin'....:p i've read far more other topics that i would deem TMI. just sayin'.
and i repeat, one CAN be knocked out for the procedure if they so desire.

half serious. And I know. I draw the line at male genetalia though.
no biggie, but its not something I would share here.
Unless asked privately.
Can one show up for the operation sauced to the motherfuckin' gills?
i have no idea?
if you want to get knocked out with general anesthesia, i would think not. however, you'd be knocked out...so no worries then eh? if you just go for the local, perhaps. hell, it might be a wise idea!
the fact that you never, never have to worry about pregnancy again, after one quick office visit = priceless. even if knocked out, still WAy less invasive than the female alternative, which requires at a minimum one overnight hospital stay.

True!
I remember my doctor telling me "You have to be ABSOLUTELY sure you do not wan't to have any more kids. Because there is no going back. Those billboards that advertise vasectomy reversal? BS."
It was a lot to think about. Something could happen and you may remarry some day. You could lose a kid. If was a pretty heavy decision.

well in our case, we never had children! i had to sign a statement to submit that i knew and approve of my husband having a vasectomy. i remember chuckling about it at the time, but i DO understand the reason behind it. granted, we were both a bit older when he had it done. i think he was 40. looking back, should've done it like 10 years earlier. however, at the time we weren't entirely convinced we didn't want kids b/c once upon a time we both thought we did.
and yes, it IS a lot to think about. relationships can end, and then what? that's why i told him to be 100% sure HE didnt want kids, period. i mean hell, what if something happened to me. he certainly is young enough to remarry, find a woman who is of the age of still wanting kids, etc. it is a risk. however, he made the decision that yes, he WANTS to remain childless, commited to our lifestyle and relationship. and hey, if shit goes south down the road...guess could always adopt. seriously, it is not something to go into lightly, but absolutely..if the right decision for you, it's just soooo good!
ps - we are truly happy with our dogs, cat and fish.
Congrats on your decision. My husband had it done about 15 years ago. He was awake, but he closed his eyes, stuck his fingers in his ears and said, "Lalalalalalalalalalala" over and over and VERY LOUD. Then he sat around with a bag of ice between his legs for several days. He never did mention the burning smell, though. LOL

The needle does not go in your Johnson BTW, your boys are getting the love.
1. Going to the doctor for a vasectomy consultation after 2 kids - $6 co-pay
2. Deciding not to get it done in case you ever want children again - $0
3. Your wife getting pregnant because she begged to have a third? - No sleep A lot of $$$
4. Finding out your wife is pregnant with your 4th child a week before she gets her tubes tied - even more sleepless nights, a bigger house, many more $$$$
5. 20 minutes of WTF?!?!, a week of feeling like someone kicked your in the balls every hour or so.....$0
6. Never having to go through any of it again and her anticipating the day you feel better?............priceless

If a man speaks in a forest and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?
Maybe I'm a male chauvinist pig, but I'd never have the snip for anyone. Even if I over-populated the globe with loud, verbose brats with extremely large heads and an excessive fondness for export Guinness, so be it.

1. Yes, as many of you pointed out, you are awake.
2. I don't know if anyone mentioned the burning smell. That was nice.
3. You become lovers with a bag of frozen peas
4. The first time afterwards is an adventure in pain.
Still to do this for your wife and having no protection for the rest of your life is priceless!
Oh, God I forgot about the burning. I was like, "WTF is that smoke coming from?!"

I consider the Johnson as one single unit... you cannot have one without the other....well not really unless one decides to alter it.
If a needle touches the balls, it is not too far away from the old tugay...thats Cree for Penis.
