quite possibly the funniest storyline to any video. the bust of lionel's head at the end is the kicker.

  • I had the best clothes in the eighties. Puffball skirts and shoulder pads.

I wasn't even ten at that time!

  • You know why there are so many 'The 80's were so cool!!' threads? Because we all feel as if we have to defend the decade. They were awful. Skinheads and Margaret Thatcher.

The 80's were mighty fine. I started off with Adam and the Antz, went through ac/dc, Iron Maiden, and by the end of it I was knocking around in 'kneeless' jeans, basketball boots and Metallica shirt...man the 80's were cool!!!
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

Clearly you were in a different kind of eighties to me because at that time I was singing along to 'Tiffany' with my hairbrush and my brother used to wear odd, iluminus (sp) coloured socks. :)

No, I was there, I was the one tutting when Duran Duran came on the radio, the one carrying records carefully under my arm to school, the one who wore a UFO shirt to play rugby in P.E, the one who never had a girlfriend...until Bon Jovi came along and made long haired guys seem a bit cool :)
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

  • i remember in the 80s we all made fun of how stupid everyone looked in the 70s. looking back now, i think the 80s were definitely worse style years.

I went to a concert performed by Air Supply........wait, please.........let me explain.........

my friend passed away and I went to her memorial in Arkansas where she had recently lived for like the past 15 years and her family said that she had wanted to attend this but then she passed away, so her family and I went there in her honour.

It was so funny; they were performing at this place called "Magic Springs" and we were just talking and hanging out and laughing and all, and then after a short while,we decided to leave. We got up and these people came toward us from the back, and us, oblivous to the goings on, thought that they were wanting our seats or something........???? who knew?

but then after that, we turned around to see that the spandex wearing singer was right behind us and that the crowd did not want our seats evidently, but instead, wanted to go toward the singer, who when we turned around put his sweaty hand on one of the girls that were with us' face.

    so funny.............
Baby, You Wouldn't Last a Minute on The Creek......

Together we will float like angels.........

In the moment that you left the room, the album started skipping, goodbye to beauty shared with the ones that you love.........

ok, I was thinking of this yesterday, so this is a perfect place to ask this question..........

why was it that androgynous looks were like hot in the 80's
all of the cool metal guys with their highlighted hair and high voices

but then in the later 80's early 90's that same idea got way too feminine and went sour?

I mean now it would look very screwed up. but then it was very hot.....i.e., Bonjovi when he first came out, the singer in Cinderella, Oh, and of course, David Coverdale who I was convinced was channeling a young Robert Plant....

    oh, man, ..............

I was an 80's generation teen and I had a blast! :) What is sad is that my kids are now having 80's parties and making fun of us! Sigh, they will never know how beautiful it really was.......

"It's like the every-other-decade theory, you know? The '50s were boring, the '60s rocked, and the '70s-- Oh, my god, they obviously suck. Come on. Maybe the '80s will be radical. You know? I figure we'll be in our 20s and, hey, it can't get any worse."

I think we're about the same age so I can immagine.
What's up with her voice? She's got one of the most God awful singing voices I've ever heard. She sounds like someone has stuck a couple of pencils up both nostrils and has some kind of problem where she can't open or close her jaw properly. How come no one noticed?

In general, the eighties were awful until about 1987. British Indie music wasn't too shabby, post-Smiths (whom I always hated).
