i thought for sure she'd give me a script, no such luck...simply take 600 mg motrin. bummer. so i only got good drugs once, in the hospital, so really, didn't fully enjoy.....haha.
dunk - i can drive b/c it's my left foot, not my driving foot. we drive on the right side of the road over here and all that ya know. * oh and i HAVE to drive b/c taking the new car...and hubby would not want anyone else driving it....but it's a-ok.
seriously, my FIRST question was that i had shows and travel over the weekend and could i go!
and hey, i am no stranger to gimping it around at a show. i fell down the arena stairs in turin...and had to struggles around italy for about 3 more days after that...thru 2 shows. no pain meds, no crutches.....but yea...always worth it.
and yes...makes me easy to spot at pre-parties and feel free to offer sympathy drinks.
I'm so sorry you hurt your ankle that sucks. But, good for you on having the will to suck up the pain and make it through the show before seeking medical attention.

fucking bummer.....during my pearl jam tour! i *just* got home from 7+ hours in the ER. luckily, no fractures, simply an acute soft tissue injury - aka a BAd sprain. how did this happen? i fucking tripped on truly uneven payment last night leaving the preparty on my way over to MSG. bout an inch difference between both pieces of pavement and managed to step on it *just* right to completely twist my ankle in the most contorted fashion and dropped like s tone to the pavement. KILLER fucking pain. :( :( :( however....NO WAY would i miss the show, so i simply sat on the edge of my seat all night with ice on my ankle. by the time we made it close to home, it was obvious an ER visit was in order. it SUCKED! well except - finally - for the percocet. sooooooooo...it blows! however, while i have to wear an air-cast and use crutches at least a week, i got the OK to drive and do the rest of my tour. and when i get back, was only a 3 day work week in any case, so already informed em i'll be out.
/end sad rant...altho i DO feel fortunate it's not worse.
btw becky girl - i know, i KNOW.....wtf is with me falling on tour....AGAIN?!!
ouch... that's really an unfortunate step.
But hey, you got to do the rest of the tour and take a few days off from work, so that's not too bad. Hope your ankle heals soon!
it is still hideously FUGLY......:eek:...but actually looks way better if you can imagine. quite honestly, i am truly amazed at how well/quickly i seem to be healing, especially since i rather abused myself even more with this tour. so, i may be no graceful swan and ankles like a racehorse, but at least i must have strong bones somewhere and heal well.
yesterday i actually went sans ace bandage/air-cast/crutches. granted, didn't really walk at all. drove home from mansfiled, so actually far more comfy in the car without all that shite...and then relaxed at home. i'll probably bring a crutch to the beacon show 'just in case'...and yea....will use the escalators at penn, take a cab rather than the subway, do as little walking as possible so that i may enjoy the show even more! today and tomorrow..i plan on chillin at home.
as to how i could endure the pain during the show? yes, it fucking HURT! a LOT! however, i think when you first injure yourself it is so hideous and then, kinda shock? plus, mega adreniline for the show, i had it elevated the WHOLE show with ice on it, etc. hubby was great, guy in front of me was great...so that helped. however, post-show...it KILLED. once i got to penn station sweet bejeebus i wanted to die. once in the hospital and lying down helped enourmously but after 5 hours and still no drugs, yea..i was reading to decapitate some people. percocet helped.
becky....beaten up....yea...............hahaha. and you didn't even see the bruises! hubby and then my hartford/mansfiled tour buddy did and yea.......nasty! last night and today, it's like my body knows i am home, don't have a show until tomorrow night...and totally fell apart. i felt like utter shit late last night, early today. i have even MORE bruises, everywhere...hahaha.....and feel like i've been run over. might look a bit like i have too. hope i get in better form for tomorrow.
helen, beckgirl has always expressed interest in ralph's, thus the special and delicious detour. for you...next time!
D2D - So sorry to read about this! I have only been checking The Porch and GTF between shows and only noticed this thread today. Glad to see you hobbled around to all of your remaining shows. Sorry I haven't run into you at any of the shows, unfortunately, between work and meeting up with non-PJ friends, I haven't been able to go to any of the pre-show meet-ups.
