    Amazon.com

Sweet, I'll have to check that out!

I've pretty much stopped buying DVDs and if a movies comes out that I want to get I'll usually get it on BD. I'm not a fan of the price of most new Blu discs though. Some of them are just crazy expensive! I'll have to check out amazon, because I'm not going to spend $35 on one movie. That's nutty!

get 'em used....if you choose a decent seller you can't lose. The BR's I got were all mint and like $8-9. If I remember correctly, FMJ was still in shrink wrap.
I don't see too many new movies on the horizon worth $30 either.
I learned my lesson and movie "collecting" ........most only collect dust. My wife asked why I bought those BR movies saying that I have seen them a hundred times...that is the exact reason I bought them. I am still gonna get more of my favorites on BR but only after reading that it is worth upgrading them from DVD. While American Psycho looked nicer on BR, I wouldn't pay more than $10 for yet another copy of it.

Yeah, I can only see myself replacing my old DVDs if it's a sweet-ass movie that I love, or if there is a big upgrade in the conversion.
I have some older movies that will have very little difference on BD compared to DVD...that was due to the filming of the movie.

Movies that I don't have yet, and are new, etc. will be purchased on Blu though.

i know there are others...but I use this site for reviews http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/reviews.html

I will not be wasting my money buying any more disc-based media. I feel as if we are only a few years away from having everything on flash memory.

I know people who say the same thing about streaming media too.
Only a very, very small percentage of the people in this country have the means to stream true 1080p HD from the source without a hour+ lead-in buffer. That and people like owning media.
The problem now with flash memory is a) capacity b) $$ 32GB flash cards are expensive c) source downloads...are you going to download the file to the flash then put it in your TV, cable box, etc. that goes back to the bandwidth issue mentioned before. A 2.5 hour 1080p HD movie will take a long-ass time to d-load and if you aren't d-loading it directly to your flash, most people don't have the hdd capacity to temporarily hold/put on a full-length HD movie.

Blu-ray discs can be made dual (and in some cases quad-layered) now. That is a LOT of data, and the discs are "relatively" cheap.

I do think streaming tech, and flash transfers will be more available in the future, but not anytime soon.

Keep in mind that your PS3 will upscale those old DVD's anyway, the transfer to Blu Ray would have to be seriously kick ass to bother.
I have the Untouchables on both, but only because someone got me the BRD for my Bday.

What would the difefrence be ?

Regular Blu-Ray at Bestbuy is $299

The difference, mostly, is that your PS3 is more upgradable than most standalone blu ray players.
That is getting a little old though, any new standalone is probably just as good.

First in line? Blu ray has been around for a while now. The prices of players and discs are coming down.

It is here to stay so if you want the best picture available then do just that...line up because you will be amazed!

Also, larger Blu discs are on the way (which can be read by standard Blu players). Recently a 500GB disc was created!!! Just think of how insane that is!!

Either way, you can't go wrong with Blu because it will be around for a while.

sure boo rae has been around and um so whats next? its doesnt end with boo rae. there will be another $1700 piece of equipment coming soon. count on it!

ever notice how much a plain old dvd player is now? i saw a brand new one for $20! omg

im in no rush to catch up but thats only cause i use to own a top if the line hifi sony betamax, so ive learned my lesson ;)

I hope you are joking...sometimes you can't see through message boards.

I hope so, because if not you are pretty much dumb. My grandma has the same mentality, and she gave up after VHS.
