    i'll second that! :D

he would've had it last year if he didn't get hurt. funny the back-to-back mvp's were phillies and he is better than both of his teammates (imo). :)

He's much better than Rollins or Howard. Then again I'm the rational Phillies fan who thought that yes Rollins had a great year but should not have been MVP last year. I mean when you're the leadoff hitter and your primary job is to get on base and you finish 6th on your own team in on base percentage - it doesn't impress me much.

That's what Joe Morgan said the other night and if anyone is qualified to lead that discussion it would be him.

best hitter in National League in my opinion. Only Pujols is close and with him having a bad elbow I give the nod to Chase. He is signed long term too which is great. Much more valuable than Ryan Howard.

Utley may be leading the NL in home runs right now, but Jones has a better batting average and has driven in more runs thus far. At this point in time, Jones has done more to put his team in a position to win than Utley, which would make him more deserving right now. A month from now, we'll probably be talking about two completely different players for the mvp, so it's not even worth talking about this early in the season...

haha just wait until they get their own stadium and then they'll be able to afford the great players that their great scouting department discovers.

yea man, the Marlins don't own any part of Dolphins Stadium. they don't make money off of parking, drinks, food or anything like that. it's all game tickets and revenue sharing. that's the problem. I BELIEVE (being away for school it's hard to keep up) that they finally got a stadium location and funds approved for them to get a new stadium that they will own and make money off of.

edit: oh and nothing will compare to the fire sale they had after the '97 World Series lol. that was ridiculous. at least after the '03 WS they retained some players.

If you are awarding the mvp this early then you have to consider chipper jones. Just as good numbers as utley at this point.
But it's so stupid to even think about naming someone an mvp candidate 3 weeks into the season. I blame baseball tonight because they were talking about it. Hell, Nate Mcclouth could be in the running too.

my argument was in support for Chipper...I stated that Chipper has a better average and more RBIs and has done more to help his team win

but then I also said that we'll probably be talking about 2 different players in a month's time....

on a sidenote: just watched John Smoltz get his 3000th career strikeout....way to go Smoltzie!

True, but they have twice as many World Series titles as the Phillies in their short history.
