The 2007-08 New York Knicks Thread

  • I read this in the newspaper and am curious if it's true....Is Dolan seated in a spot where only one camera (MSG's) can actually get a shot of him, but they are banned from actually focusing on him? In other words, he is seated where newspaper photographers can not get a clear picture of him.

As a Dolan/cablevision hater, I can't help but enjoy this immensely. But hey, at least they blocked the Jets new arena down the block.

It's true. He also has PR staffers type in their blackberries what the players and coaches are saying about various topics. I assume this information finds its way to Dolan at some point.

I don't know a thing about basketball, but I really think it doesn't matter if the coach gets fired, or Marbury gets cut. I don't think they'll be any good or even a respectable operation until Dolan has his favorite toys taken away from him.

that's definitely a factor but they could still be better if a proven basketball man was brought in and left alone to do his thing. If they ever do get rid of Marbury it will be the first time that the team he was traded from won't get better because his contract is terrible trade-value wise.

A proven and competent basketball person doesn't use their mid-level exception on the likes of Jerome James and Jared Jefferies.

A proven and competent basketball person at some point uses a draft pick to get an impact player at some point. Nate Robinson and David Lee are ok players for what they are - role players.

A proven and competent basketball person doesn't trade the franchise player (Patrick Ewing) as his contract is headed into the final year. That's among the things that started the Knicks on their current trajectory.

you could accept a loss to the celtics if it was by 15, where they were close before the celtics closed it out. well at least charles barkley's comments on inside the nba should be funny..

Just came back from the game.
We left at the end of the third quarter.
Everyone was booing and chanting "fire Isaiah"
The sixers were not even good.
I've seen high school games waaay more entertaining than this one.
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

some numbers that are pertinent to the latest disaster:

16-6 Sixers rebounding edge after one
28-12 sixers rebounding edge at halftime
47-27 sixers rebounding edge for the game
12-12 rebounds for reggie evans at halftime and rebounds for the knicks at the break.

it was so bad, they were playing music on possessions to drown out the "Fire Isiah" chants.

  • Getting rid of Isiah would be great, like putting a band aid on a bullet wound. As long as Dolan owns the team, it doesn't matter who the coach is

it doesn't matter what fans do or say, dolan is sticking with him like he stuck with sather in 2003-04 when "Fire Sather" became the most popular chants at Ranger games. Why would he really care when he just found out that his franchise is valued at 600 million?

I'd rather have the Sixers players. Their record might be not good but at least they play hard.

well at least he was honest, although he forgot to acknowledge he assembled this team, d'oh. those are his postgame comments from the lastest debacle:

“A team makes a run at us, and collectively we just cave,” Thomas said. “We just give in. We had a good basketball game going, and then all of the sudden, for whatever reason, our team stopped competing as a team and we just gave in and let it happen. There has to be some individual professional pride that comes from the guys out on the floor. Tonight, we didn’t have that.”

“I mean, as a coach, you bring certain things to the table, but our collective energy, our collective heart, our collective toughness, we say the right things but we don’t gut it out four 48 minutes. We don’t grind and we don’t compete like we should for 48 minutes.

“There are a lot of things that can be said about me, and the teams that I’ve coached and the way I’ve played, but I’ve never been accused of not having heart or competing, and tonight was very discouraging to me because we didn’t collectively play with heart and compete like I know I do.”

“I think we have the talent, but just because you have the talent and the skill doesn’t mean you have the heart,” Thomas said. “I’m not talking one individual. You’ve gotta have heart as a team.

“The one thing we prided ourselves on last year was that we didn’t always play well, but I thought as a team we had heart, and we had courage and we competed. I’m not getting that out of this group right now.”
