oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

brown sugar and regular sugar aren't the same...were the mojitos dirty looking if they had brown sugar in them? are you sure it wasn't just organic regular sugar?

nope.. it was definitely brown sugar..

Cuba is the birthplace of the Mojito, although the exact origin of this classic cocktail is the subject of debate. One story traces the Mojito to the 16th century when the cocktail was known as “El Draque,” in honor of the English pirate and slave-trader Francis Drake. If this is indeed true, the Mojito could be considered as the world's first cocktail.

nothing more manly than a pirate and slave-trader you fuckers ;):D

it was probably mascabado sugar, which is brown cane sugar. not the american "brown sugar."

simple syrup is the way to go dissolves in the cocktail much easier

I'm not a drink maker by any means so I just did what they told me. But I made a few drinks that were pretty damn good. What kind of syrup?

just boil equal parts water and sugar- makes a "simple syrup."

Only one. Was it made wrong by being to sweet?

usually they're not that sweet - just light and refreshing. I've had some really bad ones made with fake mint syrup instead of real mint. ugh

Sounds like it. It's supposed to have sugar in it but it's not supposed to be really sweet. The mint should be main thing you're tasting in that drink (not in a overpowering way though). Speaking of which....that damn barcardi mojito commercial came on. I never had that much fun crushing up the mint.

mojito's aren't bad. i like the bacardi mojito's with pommegranate (sp?)

my favorite drink of all time though is a white russian. once, at a wedding reception, i was drinking a shit-ton of them and at one point the bartender asked me if i ever had a 'cocaine lady'. i said i never heard of it, what was it. he said it's like a white russian on steroids. so i ordered one. couldn't tell you everything that's in it, but i did see quite a few bottles being tipped into the glass, along with the vodka, kahluah (again, sp?), and cream. after shaking it up, he popped open a pepsi and poured just a bit of it into the drink. damn good drink. i've since asked bartenders when i'm out if they know how to make one and i keep getting the same puzzled look. bums me out, but i still have the white russians to rely on.
