the f3 button is what is happening all the time... pressing the f3 button shows all the active windows... but if i was placing some pdf's into a document earlier and everytime i opened up the file location the thing would just flick between the F3 state and normal... like really fast!!!

That is strange, because the F3 key is undefined in Leopard. You can define to have a function. Control F3 or ^F3 places the focus on the dock. Are you using the apple mouse or a third party mouse?

  • Awesome! I just got the same one; 24", 1 TB hardrive, and 4 gigs of RAM (I, of course, did not get my RAM from Apple either).

Using the EyeTV (not to be confused with the Apple TV) I've also turned it into my new bedroom television. The EyeTV is fucking awesome. I highly recommend you look into it.

the F3 key is pre-defined to do the shift between apps function :)

i've never owned a mac. i wanted one when we first got a computer, but hubby was convinced otherwise. NOW he's thinking about it, so when we are in the market for a new computer...who knows? however, i am very pleased with our machine, so i hope not to shell out the $$$ for a new one for a looooooonnnng time.

    enjoy!

Now things are clear. You have one the new aluminum keyboards, and yes on those F3 shifts between apps. Older keyboards use command-tab. This should be easy, I think. In system preferences, go to the keyboard and mouse pane. Once inside, go to keyboard shortcuts. Scroll till you find F3 and uncheck it. You could also update the keyboard software, if it is not up to date.

That should do it, but also remember that the side buttons on the mighty mouse trigger Expose as well, so be sure to disable that.

I do think that Expose can be pretty useful once you get the hang of it. Still, I know it can be a pain the ass initially, especially if this is your first Mac.

You are right. The might mouse is pretty sensitive, and you can trigger functions just by holding it to tightly. I not a fan of the mighty mouse; I use a Logitech multi-button wheel mouse.

I love Expose. It really helps with the workflow to compartmentalize tasks.

  • No love for the Mighty Mouse? It practically comes with a clitoris; one that you can scroll or get all the Widgets to pop up :)

The side buttons can be a bit touchy, but those are easily disabled

Well, it is like what Frank Zappa said about a different clitoris, "I poked and stroked till my wrist got numb, but I still couldn't hear no dynamo hum."

The might mouse is nice, I just find the side buttons hard to use. :)

i turned off the mighty mouse side keys as they were causing the screens to jump from apps view to normal and stuff... very sensitive wee buttons they must be...

i just disabled them totally and now its no problems at all :)

it's insanely brilliant... watched some Led Zeppelin on it at lunchtime yesterday and i'm pretty sure i could see what Robert Plant had for breakfast through his uber-tight jeans.... it was that clear and vivid.

anyone got one... if so can you tell me how to turn off that 'window' shifting thing that keeps happening.

Lucky you! I want a mac SOOOOOO badly but can't afford one right now. :(

That looks very nice; enjoy! :D
  • A new iMac was released Monday, but I think if you call 1-800-MyApple they will help you determine if you are elegable to a rebate or upgrade.

Personally, I love my new iMac as is and couldn't give a rat's ass if it was updated.
