it's insanely brilliant... watched some Led Zeppelin on it at lunchtime yesterday and i'm pretty sure i could see what Robert Plant had for breakfast through his uber-tight jeans.... it was that clear and vivid.

anyone got one... if so can you tell me how to turn off that 'window' shifting thing that keeps happening.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Nice mac. The window shifting thing? Do you mean Spaces? You can turn that off by going to System Preferences/Expose & Spaces/Spaces tab and unchecking the Enable Spaces checkbox.
I smile, but who am I kidding...

Congratulations! I have been a long time Mac user. I think they are really fine machines.

When you say shifting windows, I think you might be talking about a feature called spaces or expose. You can activate these features by pressing F8, F9, F10, or F11. F8 is for Expose, which gives you four boxes, and the other keys are for Expose, which shifts the windows around. On the Dock, there is the System Preferences icon, the square with the gears in it. If you open it and look under the first row of items, the Personal heading, there is one called Expose & Spaces. In the Expose panel you can choose no key in the drop down menu, so expose doesn't work. In the Spaces tab, you can turn spaces off. HTH.

If this isn't what you mean, describe it a little more.

expose and spaces is off... it's at its worst when selecting dates in a drop down box on a site... i.e. choosing todays date when on a site trying to book a flight... or if i hover over a hyperlink it just starts going frantic and showing me lots of windows... driving me nuts a bit to be honest.

Sometimes the "Universal Access" feature can cause odd window behavior. Go into system preferences and look under the system line. At the end is "Universal Access." Make sure Zoom and other things are off, and then uncheck "Enable access for assistive devices." See if that helps.

Actually that's about right for us.

I've only read from certain people over there that the markup is too high.

But 500 bucks for memory? You got hosed man.

    Oh good.

Apple does overcharge the shit out of you for memory when you can easily install cheaper memory and get the same effect

the f3 button is what is happening all the time... pressing the f3 button shows all the active windows... but if i was placing some pdf's into a document earlier and everytime i opened up the file location the thing would just flick between the F3 state and normal... like really fast!!!
