  • You mean like this? ...'has a lot more options then here' ? Yes it really bugs me.

Normally I'd agree with the girls about ignoring peoples spelling. Maybe it just annoys me because it's like no one even realises that it makes no sense.

    :o

It is the one thing in grammar that messes up... I am doing better now but man I still remember handing in a paper for high school English and I loved my teacher ( not in Lolita manner I just really thought he was funny and loved his classes, you dirty minded buggers :p ) ... anyway he scrawled the two words across the front of my paper and said I was too smart to make this error... :o A friend explained it to me and now I have it... I think :o

Oddly enough bad grammar drives me nuts but yet that one tends to catch me.

Or simple confusion... there are words I've always had trouble with... fuck I never even know if it's grammer or grammar til I've actually written it, no matter how many times I know :D so I'm not one to give out to someone about their grammer ;)

but 'then' and 'than' are words kids learn in frickin primary school.. aged 5... 'grammer' and 'tommorrow' are much more tricky and they wait until people are 8

a spelling mistake is fine... but then and than!!!
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    because it directly affects me.

if they are doing something wrong then surely try and do something about it?

if they arent doing something wrong then why worry?

so if you dont do it and you're not bothered by it.... why are you worrying about what i worry about?

havent you got the murder of a Russian diplomat to solve or something? ;)

come on dunk, the english language is full of complex subtleties. it absorbs words from other languages(not to mention the different strands of colloquial english that abound) and that is why it is able to morph and stay alive. then and than are quite easy to mix up if one is not really thinking... and plenty of people make the mistake.
yes yes we all learn it in primary school, but life is so simple back then and im sure even you have accumulated quite the sophisticated vocabulary since you were 5. it seriously takes some effort to retain all the rules in english... and similar speeling are easily overlooked, for a variety of reasons. :)

    World, dogs, going to.

Rearrange to solve Dunk's thoughts on the subject.

I light-heartedly agree. It's a downward spiral people! Today it's a confusion between 'then' and 'than', next week it's a person, who makes that same error, sitting in the White House with his finger on the button ;)

How does it directly affect you? Do you lose money because of it? Do you have to work longer hours? Do you struggle to support your family? Does it take your family away from you? I'm curious!

:) ahhhhh... you bring back even further memories of 1984... the guy who was only interested in talking about the dictionary :D

 despite the fact that I've been using the words 'it's all connected dunk' quite often recently... I'm failing to see the connection here :o:D

I dont think that a simple spelling error in this case when it's pretty much impossible for the wrong word to make the sentence mean something entirely different... is bringing the world to the dogs :D

But 'then' and 'than' are NOTHING to do with grammar and everything to do with meaning of words. We're not talking misplaced commas or semi-colons here, we're talking of mixing up two different words with entirely different meanings. That's pretty bad.

What would happen if everyone started mixing up 'if' and 'is'?
