Funny... that's a completely different argument to the one you used the other day when you said 'I work for the government (you then implied British too as it was the British government I was talking about), and they AREN'T doing that... I would know'

So which stance ARE you taking then? This new one or the one that suited you last week?

    you mean this quote.

    i make maps.

i also plot the movement of nuclear shipments.. contribute to my departments papers and reports that go to straight to Scottish Parliament... i've worked on e-planning forums that will directly affect the poorest people of Scotland and how they get a house in the future... blah blah de blah.

point is... i work for the government... nothing we do is covert or in anyway snoops into your life... MI5 might do that .. but i'm pretty sure MI5 have a staff of about 4000 people and i dont think they see me as much of a threat.. so they concentrate on snooping on idiots who believe 49 virgins await them.. or russian mafia bosses who live in london and pay no tax and have men killed...

as exciting as your life may be.. i dont think your secret service will be wasting much time on you

anyway.. shouldnt you be making coffee for your boss? ;)

i dont say anywhere that I work for the British government. i also dont say " i would know' and i didnt imply anything.

'i work for the government... nothing we do is covert or in anyway snoops into your life'

pretty much implies you know everything that goes on in the government :p

we do!!!!! nothing WE do... my department, my section, my office, etc.. how the fuck am i supposed to know what the Tax dept or Licensing dept do?

    clutching at straws or what?!?!

Hardly... read your quote again. If you had said 'I work for *insert department here* nothing we do... ' would make sense... but by saying 'I work for the government, nothing we do... ' implies that by 'we' you mean the people you work for and with, i.e. the government. You can try and deny that one all you want... but if it were ME who said something like that, you'd hang me with it :p

Now just say 'ok, I should have said my department/section/office rather than government which implies I know enough to speak for the government' :D

Exactly... or MI5? Or any other department. I never accused the department of maps, shipping and social housing ;) of spying on us, did I? :D

It doesn't really bother me that some people can't use 'then' and 'than' correctly. In fact, it makes me feel intelligent because I do know the difference and I rarely mix them up.

lets see if i can help explain it. its one letter, its forums. whats the big deal? if you dont know what someone means when they use either form of then, then you may need help too. some people (myself included) really dont take grammar serious on message boards. if i saw the mistake in a news article i might be alittle worried how that person got the job...

just be glad you dont have to deal with it being written like th4n or th3n n0 wh4t i m34n??????

My girlfriend does that. I still correct her whenever I can. Shame bc she's better than that but I cut her some slack bc she's amazing in every other way and is a true PJ fan....how I met her actually.

yep i have pointed out spelling mistakes but i dont go on and on about it and start a thread to rag on people for being stupid for misspelling words. and if i were truly anal about it, pointing out spelling errors on this board would be a full time job. :p

yet again a presumptive response without even knowing me dunk. you used the word salubrious to describe my dwelling in another post. this in itself is a ridiculous statement. though im sure youll point out that compared to millions of other people in the world, an accurate description. youve no idea how i live my life.
